There is a viral video from sony that suggest a PS4 announcement

Sony isn't dumb enough to pour in more investments to build a PS4 just yet. They just recently started profiting off each PS3 sold, why would they destroy so many potential sales with this?
I'll give it at least 2 years before any of the three announce a new platform.
I think its more of a "we have 3D gaming;next gen starts this gen" kind of thing. Nonstop-MadnessYeah, pretty much.
"We're happy to announce......the PS4! With 60fps and 4D gaming!"RavensmashAt the low introductory price of $799 . We expect you to get another job to buy 1.

I found that video funny lol I think at best they're going to bundle move with PS3 and maybe have 3D gaming, but it isn't really a PS4.
I wish Sony would instead of bringing out a new console, allow us to change the poor graphics card on the ps3 with an upgraded one and unlock the unused cores of the cell. But no that won't happen.ShadowDeathXIsn't that what consolites have been ragging on PCs about for so long? PC gaming is teh expensive!!

I agree. Another hint, I believe, is that it doesn't just say "PS4". It also says v3.1. Why would a supposed leak about the PS4 refer to version 3?
It is still way too early to announce a new console. Especially considering NONE of the companies have even so much as hinted towards a new console coming out any time soon. Sony needs to start making some money off the PS3...they have a bunch of 3d games in the works which would basically be pointless if a new console is on the way, and the PS2 is still around creating a drag on PS3's peak sales potential, etc. Announcing a PS4 now would only kill Sony's chance's of ever profiting off PS3 and kill off any demand for buying the necessary equipment to suppor the upcoming PS3 3D games.
Let's not forget Sony likes to come out with random commercials that have nothing to do with right now, like this one:

I'm expecting that come 2078 :D
Considering the life of every other console was 5-6 years, this sounds about right. Announce it this year and launch late 2012/early 201313. Personally, from what I've seen the consoles are already hitting the wall of what they can produce. In a couple of years I expect devs will be clamoring with something with a little more power.

And they shall all go bankrupt.
Seriously, I'm sure even Sony and MS knows that releasing a new console would be like committing a mass genocide against all game developers. That's exactly why they keep adding these huge features like 3D, motion controls, etc. They are making the consoles last longer than just 5-6 years.

only way ps3 is gonna sell any more then it has, is lower its price even further. which will means more loss to them. they can prolly build a new cheaper system with more power then the ps3. ms cut off the xbox because they were losing big off it 4 years after its launch.[QUOTE="myke2010"]

Personally, I think it would be a good business move for Sony. In fact, that was exactly what MS did last gen. The Xbox lost money so they cut it loose and let it die as soon as the 360 released. Nintendo did the same thing with each of their less than successful systems. The PS3 is bleeding Sony money. The smart move would be to kick it to the curb as soon as a new console can be pushed out the door.
The PS3 has already accomplished what Sony needed it to, it pushed Blu-Ray as the next movie format. Mission accomplished, time to move on. Not to mention the biggest reason the 360 is doing better than the PS3 is because it made it out the door first. I expect Sony learned their lesson and will be wanting to get a headstart next gen.
As for all these silly gadgets to extend the consoles lives, it just reminds me too much of what Sega did with the Genesis/Mega Drive. History has repeatedly shown these kinds of devices never have large scale support from consumers.
This thought occurred to me in one of the other PS4 threads: Sony may simply be calling the PS3 + Move + 3D firmware upgrade "PS4". For brand-recognition purposes, so that people start to think of the PS3's new capabilities as "brand new". I have a feeling that's exactly what this is, considering their aggressive PS3 Slim campaign.
PS4 is PS3.1. See?
I wouldn't be so sure, announcement's next year, possibly released 1-2 years from this fall. That seems more realistic to me. Announcing in 2 years means at least 4 years(in all likelihood) until we see all three out on the market.Sony isn't dumb enough to pour in more investments to build a PS4 just yet. Natal and Move are on the way... they do not plan on announcing any new system to kill the hype. That would be like DICE announcing BF3 a month before BFBC2 released.Sony isn't dumb enough to pour in more investments to build a PS4 just yet. I just bought my PS3 like 2 years ago, I am not going to spend another 500$ or more just to get a PS4. Are they going to release all the games for the PS4 now??
"We are sorry you just bought a PS3 but it's outdated so we made the PS4" I thought they would be talking about move and other games at E3, I guess they expect people to waste over 100$ on move and then 500$ on a PS4 in the next year or 2.

Well if you think spending all this money is a waste then just don't buy it. Problem solved.I just bought my PS3 like 2 years ago, I am not going to spend another 500$ or more just to get a PS4. Are they going to release all the games for the PS4 now??

Well if you think spending all this money is a waste then just don't buy it. Problem solved. That doesn't solve any problems if you're a gamer. You end up falling behind on all new games if you don't buy the next console and therefore miss out on all your favorite franchises/new IPs. You suck at problem solving lolits not to early to annouce a new console, usually when they annouce a console we won't see it for like another2 yrs are so.
