Gotta say this looks way different than previous vids where there's was a disappointing mayhem... combo system looks ok, but I doubt this will prevail over the mayhem we've witnessed before.
of course when you have 4 players in one game its going to be mayhem, but in a one on one setting "which is how super smash is played on a competitive level" its a different type of game. You play with your friends for fun but if they ever have playstation royale tournaments 1 v 1, mastering these combos "which build your meter faster according to the devs" is going to be crucial.Gotta say this looks way different than previous vids where there's was a disappointing mayhem... combo system looks ok, but I doubt this will prevail over the mayhem we've witnessed before.

Anyone else curious to know if to perform said combos you just need to press: "square-square-square-square-square" or "triangle-triangle-triangle-triangle" a la spam fest? Or will you actually have to press several buttons to perform said combos like in a regular fighter? DesmonicI think it's mostly square and triangle to attack but having the control stick in different directions when pressiing them bring different moves, kinda like SSB I guess. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Except that I wouldn't compete on tournaments.. at least not for this game.
One thing to note about the combos in this game is that they will stop once you reach the next "super threshold" sending your opponent flying in an invincible state until he lands or uses a move. This prevents from prolonged juggaling.
This game is looking better and better the more I hear about it.

then stay out of my wayI think it's mostly square and triangle to attack but having the control stick in different directions when pressiing them bring different moves, kinda like SSB I guess. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Oh, that could work! That could work pretty well! The only thing I'd want from a system like that would be to use the d-pad and not the analog sticks to select different directions in the combos (to perform the various attacks). The analogues sticks, unless very finely tuned byt the devs could become a bit frustrating I think..... Fighting games are d-pad by default.[QUOTE="m_machine024"]

Since this game is inspired by Super Smash Brothers it might not use the d-pad.

super smash bros doesn't have combosThe combo system, the online, and the 3 special system are what areas this game has over Smash Bros. But the combo and special system makes no sense when it's poinless, what's the point of doing a great combo system on another player? It doesn't hurt them at all. So why even try?
I'm still looking forward to this game, can't wait to see who they reveal next.

I assume that by doing combos you can get more points and get to your super moves faster.
Long combos leads to more meter leads to more killsThe combo system, the online, and the 3 special system are what areas this game has over Smash Bros. The Domination has won. :cool:ispeakfactCall me when this is marginally as good as Melee. Looks like crap. Worse than Brawl, if that's possible.

Jelly? I own a PS3 and could rent this piece of crap whenever I want it, but unlike you Mad Cows I haven't deluded myself into thinking this game will be good.
7.5 is pretty much confirmed at this point, just like your precious Starhawk.

... LOOOOOL, you guys think brawl has combos??? some characters have rapid punches or kicks that you just press a button for "fox, kirby etc" but those aren't combos. Brawl doesn't have a true combo system, its wasn't designed for competitive play.[QUOTE="DJ-Lafleur"][QUOTE="Chris_Williams"] super smash bros doesn't have combosChris_Williams

SSB combos are pretty cool because you have to know your character and what links up with what.
because this game lets you use the dpad doesnt mean it has a combo system.
ill give it that it has an ok one to push this game to be warrant for a more hardcore audience, but you can obviously tell its a 1,2,3 type system where every player will press the same buttons however depending on the character you playing with the moves will look different.

kind of hard for a game to have combos when it wasn't designed with combos in mind, sure a few characters have one button "combos" Marth, Roy, Snake" at the end of the day, brawl doesn't have a true combo system, show me a video of a character doing a combo that hits more then 3 times. besides the one button rapid punching and kicking moves some characters have.
