The Electronic Entertainment Expo, also known as E3 is an annual trade fair held in Los Angeles participated in by all the major players in the game industry. This is where publishers announce many new games as well as giving a wealth of footage on information.
This E3 is especially important, because it is the first E3 after two major consoles have been announced, including Sony's Playstation 4, and thus expectations are through the roof. Furthermore, insiders have said things such as there being an "avalanche" and Sony studios being "ready for war" so the hype is increasing even further.
Many publishers, including Sony, hold pre-E3 shows, which are where the majority if not all of the mmegaton level announcements are held. That is what this thread is primarily for.
E3 is held between June 11th-13th. Sony's pre E3 show is on June 10th, at 6PM PT 9PM/ET. It is strongly expected to be 2 hours long.
Here is a timer for your convenience!
The E3 conference will be streamed in numerous locations and will be accessible on your web browser, phone/tablet, Vita, and PS3.
The official PS stream can be accessed here or here.
All footage will also be uploaded on various sites such as Youtube and of course GameSpot.
If you take part in E3 through Home, you'll even have the chance to get goodies such as themes, games/betas, and even a month of PS+.
More information will be provided in the official thread.
What We Will See
Â
What We Probably Will See
- More footage of Killzone: Shadow Fall, Infamous: Second Son, Drive Club, and Knack. UPDATE:Â GT will be showing off new Knack and KZ stuff before the conference so we might not see those two at the conference.
- Footage of Gran Turismo 6.
- Assassins Creed Rising Phoenix, as it's supposed to come out October 10th for Vita, but it hasn't even been formally revealed yet.
- Whatever Ready at Dawn are working on for the PS4: "Ready At Dawn is hiring. Were looking for exceptional candidates to help develop an exciting new IP for a Next-Generation home console."Â The super high chance it'll be at E3 comes from a Bethesda animator (and thus an insider) who has "high hopes" for it and referred to it when discussing E3 on twitter.
- Assassins Creed 4 and Watchdogs Footage, as Ubisoft and Sony seem to be getting along well.
- Final Fantasy XVersus: The hype began for this when during the PS4 reveal Square Enix head came on stage and said they would be unveiling a major FF title at E3. This was accompanied by reports of disatisfaction with the way FF Versus was proceeding and a promise of revealing a lot of info soon. And then there have been rumors from the same source that was right about a lot of leaks behind PS4 and XBOne. So I'd say there is a pretty high chance this is true and will be unveiled here.
- Lots of Vita stuff. Several Sony insiders have made powerful claims about Vita games, and a Game Informer Editor said that Vita will have a surprisingly strong showing at E3.
- Worldwide Launch Dates in 2013
- Free 2 Play MMO War Thunder, though it'll probably just be part of a montage or something.
- Tretton on Stage. He's the head of SCEA. Of course he'll be on stage.
- New Playstation Online Structure News
- Media Stuff to attempt to counter MS. Hope it won't take too long.
- More on Gaikai.
- Some casual wonderbook, move, PSEye stuff. Hope this will be short as well.
What We Might See
- Sony Bend's New Game
- Dark Souls II for PS4, with a release on March 2014.
- MGSV for PS4, though they might announce that at the much earlier Konami conference.
- Vita Price Drop and/or Slim 4G Version
- What Naughty Dog's second team has been working on.
- Little Big Planet 3
- Resident Evil 7. I'm fairly certain we'll be seeing it somewhere. Not necessarily here though.
- The Order 1886, whatever the hell that is. Rumors can't come to a concensus on whether it's Naughty Dog or Guerilla.
- A description about how used games and DRM are going to work on the PS4.
- Oculus Rift: This was teased by Yoshida though he sort of back tracked on it. Other Sony studios have also tweeted using it. And several important figures on hte Oculus team used to be a part of Gaikai. So there's a good chance something is up.
- Cerny on Stage: He might be there to present Knack, but as the hardware has more or less been completely revealed, he probably won't be there for long.
- Price $$$
- Kingdom Hearts. I HAVE HOPE GOD DAMMIT!!! I WILL TRUST IN LORD KAZ!!! Though tbh I'm expecting 2.5 and/or DDD port to Vita.
What We Won't See
- Lord Kaz is unlikely to have any major major presence if at all. He is above such things now.
- Much from Japan other than possibly FFXV. Lots of stuff on the floor though.
- Much PS3 content. Not happening folks. Maybe at TGS but not here. Would be surprised if it got much more than a bit of GT6 and some mentions of how great it's been. This is based on precedent and rumors from insiders.
- Kojima, because he seems to be leaning more towards Team Xbox at this point, as can be determined by his lukewarm praise of the PS4, but appearing on the opening real of the XBOne reveal. I'm putting this here just because I'm bitter about it.
- Rogue Galaxy 2: Why? Because f*** you, that's why.
Surprised that this list is mostly based on rumors and not leaks or confirmations? So am I. Somehow, Sony has managed to keep a tight ship with absolutely no major leaks so far when it comes to what they'll announce. Hopefully they'll keep it up, and E3 will truly be as surprising as it should be.
HYPE HO LET'S GO!!!
"It is time."
