PlayStation Home version 1.5 bringing new game tech, realtime multiplayer

The first of Sony's GDC 2011 announcements isn't a new piece of hardware or a major sequel, but rather a new version of its virtual world, PlayStation Home. Version 1.5 of the core Home client, due this spring, is the most significant since the service's launch in terms of new technology.

i havent been on Home in months, i'll wait for the update to see if there any improvement

I need to check Home out again, its been a while.

I still think they should add an option to make Home load automatically when you start the PS3 but, they need to reduce load times and add the ability to launch every game and do everything else the XMB can do.

I really like the idea of "home." I hope they expand upon but dont get too greedy. the best thing about home right now is that its a really cool, free feature. If they can provide some quality free upgrades to it, it will probably bring alot more people to PSN.

I have yet to even try Home and have no plans to do so in the near or distant future.

Since when is 'bringing realtime mutliplayer' to a game considered a big deal. Is this 1993?KC_Hokie

Think of it like 720P. It was a big deal when consoles were finally able to output in HD. The same can be said about this feature. It's cool when you get it as HOME didn't have the ability to let two people play together at the same time before IIRC. This feature allows HOME to do what most payed/downloadable games can do.

It is a new feature on XBL this spring if you have Kinect you can have an Avatar chat like normal chat but you are using your avatar to speak and move using your motions. It is going to have different backgrounds and one looks like a talk show.

i think ps home should have been an open world mmo or something like that, instead of those lil places we have to visit. I hope this update does something because home is really boring

It's free. There is a bunch of micro transaction things available, such as avatar clothing or "living" spaces. None of it is needed to use the features of Home though, just make you look different.

It takes up like 3 gigs if I remember correctly, not too much but still more than I was willing to let it have. A lot of people like it, but I don't really see anything really engaging about it. There is potential, as the sand table in the Warhawk space show, but it's probably gonna take some serious overhauls.

I would, personally, rather a simple board setup that launches straight from the console, like an app for the Playstation forums plus an overhaul to those forums, accessible while in game and whatnot, with full clan support for all games built right into the app.

It's not a big deal. It is just nice to have. I don't know where you're getting this "big deal" from.
