did the nunchuck REALLY have to wireless too?
First off, the title is misleading. It still can support 4 player games.
Second, even if it could, I wonder what the percentage of people would really utilize 4 player full support. Probably not great enough for it to really matter that much.
Though I also find this somewhat interesting/failure incoming, dare I ask if there exists games on the wii as well that can support up to 4 players and requres both wiimote and nunchuck?

Yup, can have a wireless nunchuck, but not motion plus. Good trade off

According to the Engadget article I've read, Move uses a rechargeable Li-ion.
Why it had to be seven? An uneven number. Sony doesn't really like to think things through... Like when they first added those numerous USB/Ethernet/HDMI ports and then finally somebody thought out that it costs money to put them there. "Oh **** it does?! Really?"

It's a limitation with bluetooth standard. A single BT network supports up to eight active devices. That includes the host device (the PS3 console itself in this case).

3-player support with both the move and the sub.. 7-player support with just a move. I really dont see the big deal here.. and if you wanna play split screen FPS's just use the standard gamepad :P.
and how is this a major let down? How can a firmware update not increase the bluetooth controller count?hiryu3
Hmm is that even possible?
[QUOTE="hiryu3"]and how is this a major let down? How can a firmware update not increase the bluetooth controller count?hiryu3I stand corrected, I forgot about the PS3 is connection 8
Thats what I thought :P
Your tvs must be humongous if you feel that 4 player coop is viable in an enjoyable format

Hell yeah we ALL have HD projectors these days.. didnt you know?
[QUOTE="PSP107"]Cant wait to see how many BATTERIES this thing eats. It doesn't user batteries like the Wii, it works exactly like the DS3.http://gizmodo.com/5491464/playstation-move-gimps-4+player-support

But still i don't see how this is going to be a major issue
The PS3 counts as one device. Leaving seven slots open on the network. That's just how bluetooth works.
The reason there is an eight device limit with bluetooth is because it only assigns a 3-bit address to each. Binary "111" equals seven, plus "0" makes eight. The only way to expand the number of active devices is by creating a "scatternet". That is where one or more devices in the network act as both slave and host, "bridging" multiple bluetooth connections. In theory you could have the primary Move controller do this. However it would probably add to the cost and scatternets can degrade performance anyways.

That's the attitude to have... I really hope you don't work in customer service. I would want ALL of my customers happy. Like it or not, in order for Move to succeed, Sony needs to appeal to the casuals. What do casuals like? Party games... Casuals are going to look at this, and see that the PS3 has a limitation that the Wii does not. Plus, for a console that. "Only Does Everything"....''it does mean that designers are severely limited in what they can offer'' How many people even play 4 player? You could still do it with one wand each for something like tennis. How many Wii party games even use the Nunchuck and Wiimote?http://gizmodo.com/5491464/playstation-move-gimps-4+player-support

The Wii's Nunchuck is fine with a wire, you don't even notice it.the subcontroller doesn't use Bluetooth, but the Move does....so you can have 4 to 7 Moves + 4 to 7 Subcontrollers = for 4 to 7 players gaming.
again...if you want, you can use your DS3s or Sixaxis Controllers instead of SubControllers, but remember DS3s and Sixaxises use bluetooth slots.
Edit- but I doubt most of these family casual games would use SubControllers......one Move controller per person should be enough.

During the E3 2005(PS3's unvealing), a Power Point Slide had 8 supported controllers. 7 were wireless 1 was USB. The 3 USB slots was Mic, Racing and Eye Toy.This would just mean that the 4 player games will be minigame style rather than something like SSBB.the subcontroller doesn't use Bluetooth, but the Move does....so you can have 4 to 7 Moves + 4 to 7 Subcontrollers = for 4 to 7 players gaming.

lmao, ya there are many games that use WM/N and are 4 players. In fact most multilpayer wii games leave you with a great deal of choice, either wiimote alone, or with nunchuck, classic controler , gamecube ect.
Sony will update the PS3 to make 4 work. They'll probably make it so each set acts as one controller or make so the system makes an 8th spot.

But that would be somewhat awkward for the one person that would have to have their Move or Subcontroller plugged in. Especially with the short cables Sony includes. And on some models this leave you with no available USB ports (since there are only two on the 40GB and newer, one of which will be occupied by the PSEye) for charging a controller or whatnot, unless you buy a hub.
I play Wii sports resort with my girlfriends familly all the time, most games we play require one wiimote and one nunchuck per pair of people, meaning, as you well no for table tennis only two people play at once thus once down you give the controllers to the next pair. I've not seen a 4 player split screen game on the Wii that would require everyone to have the Wiimote+nunchuck. Can anyone name one please?very disappointing....I play games with my family all the time

Actually i wasnt suggesting 1 move controller can be via USB. But since you went that route, is it possible to have a dongle or somthing? I mean PS2 wirless controller you connected somthing to the USB slot. Can they do the same here to expand the support? Please Log In to post.
