Linkified for people like me (the lazy :P).
Hmmmm. It says that counts both PSP and PS3 numbers so depending on the official SW stance I would'nt light the bonfire and start doing the victory dance yet, cows.
Good on Sony ... however, it's for two platforms (PS3 and PSP) ... this really means that out of 71 million consoles, 20 million are on the PSN, compared to the 360 which has 17 million online for 28 million consoles (half of which also pay for online). I'm not ditching Sony, it's good, but the 360 still has a larger proportion of online users compared to the PSN
Its really not that big of a deal.PSdual_wielderJust noticed nobody posted it and just wanted to give everyone heads up about it.

Why so hostile? He never said it was just one system. He said PSN. Can you dig that?

PSP and the PS3 both utilize the same exact online service (PSN). I don't see where you're trying to go with that, when PSN is what this thread is about. They're not two completely separate services combined.

Did i say it was just for PS3's userbase?more people signed up for the free service then the service that costs money? I am so shocked btw to both sides the number of users on PSN or XBL doesn't mean jack imo seriously just becuae a system has more subcribers doesn't make the online serive betterRagashahs
I would not say PSN's online service is bad, not at all.
If PSN really is that bad, then XBL is mediocre at best.

TBH fanboys like to shove anything into eachothers face. Im pretty sure if this said XBL the lems would be posting this up and saying "PSN SUKZORZ" and other childesh things. I think PSN counts multiple acounts and I think XBL counts both gold and silver members. When they are doing these numbers.
Since we are talking for online services on other news steam passed 20million user accounts with 100% year over over year increase since 2004

9 million paying subscribers is better than 20 million non-paying users.

Depends on which side of the coin you're viewing from. From a console maker's point of view, you're right. From consumers' point of view, it's usually better to have something for free.

if thats the case then they wouldn't call XBOX live would they? but yeah this is not surprising. free online should win against payed service.Sony combines PSP/PS3, M$ combines PC, Xbox Live Gold and Silver, Zune.
It's all good. Whatever, I'm just glad everything is doing well.

I was about to say that. It's great...... but it would not be any fun not to add any SW flare....
Funny how Sony does not release the KZ2 demo in the states...(The US is one of the largest markets for Sony and FPS)....Then the only way to get Sony's biggest hitter by far is to create "another" account...
Hummmm...
[QUOTE="alexmurray"]yea and how many of those are alt accounts???sh0vet
SHAMWOW!!!!!!SHAMWOW!!!!!rawr
Lol how many people have noticed this? Now be honest.
That old arguement? There is a reason it was skipped.
Both system's have alt accounts from users, lol.

Well, since you DO have to pay for XBL gold, there is quite a bit more deterent to creating multiple accounts on XBL than on PSN. Oh, did you know that PSN also includes playstation.com/playstation underground users? I haven't had a Sony console since my PS2 died 3 years ago, yet I'm still counted as a PSN member.Wow.... more people use a free service over a service you have to pay for? WOW OMG! STOP THE PRESSES!
In other news more people than not, obtain their Operating System without paying for it. OMGZ! :o
and lets go to Jack for the weather....
"well folks, looks like the sun is gonna rise tomorrow, goodnight and thx for tuning in to "Obvious News".... your #1 program for getting all the news that surprises no one"
PS. and yet even the Wii is used for online gaming more than the PS3. How sad!

Thankfully, M$ counts ALL SILVER accounts as well, and those are just as frequent as a PSN user.
Heck, I've been to GeoW/Halo 3 parties where SILVER accounts were created right in front of me, because they come with a free month of GOLD. Anything to play for free online.
I love xbox live. I pay $50 to get a good service. Its p2p but its not a big deal because everyone has mics. I also get what I paid for, additional content in games, and demos that I could download. For such a superb service I'll keep paying my xbox live fee.

Everything you mentioned is available on a few other platforms...save the additional content, I suppose.
Sony combines PSP/PS3, M$ combines PC, Xbox Live Gold and Silver, Zune.
It's all good. Whatever, I'm just glad everything is doing well.

Zune is part of the xbox live service? Also if PC was included in that, the few games for windows that are on live, should easily push the xbox over the edge. Dawn of war 2 is on live :D yey dawn of war!Sony combines PSP/PS3, M$ combines PC, Xbox Live Gold and Silver, Zune.
