Definitely wait for the Vita. Definitely. The PSP has kinda died, barely any (interesting) games releasing. The PS Vita will have way better specs. Wait if it's an option.

I'd wait for Vita, you'll just have so much more fun with it. If a PSP is also fairly cheap then it's still a good system but in 6 months the Vita will come knocking and you might feel like you wasted a purchase on the PSP for not playing it as long as you'd like.

Here's a few mitigating reasons to still consider buying a PSP:

1) Price. The PSP, at $129, is half the price that the Vita will be next year.

2) The Vita will be capable of playing 'almost' every PSP game, but there are some good PSP games that never got released on PSN. Games like Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII and Kingdom Hearts: BBS. I don't know if those games will ever be on PSN, only time will tell. But at the moment the only way to play them is through a UMD-equipped PSP.

Don't listen to this guy.

The PSP has a stellar line-up in Japan but those games most likely won't be localized on UMDs. The best chance to get those games is on the Vita. Also, Sony is letting developers re-release their PSP games on NVG cards so, really, just wait for the Vita.

PSP is pretty much dead for new games as far as I can see, although Final Fantasy Type-0 is on the horizon for it. Other than that though it's about done. Still, there is SO much you can do with a PSP nowdays (including things I can't talk about :P) I would buy a decent condition used one if you have the money. But if waiting isn't a big problem, early next year you can get a Vita
