Please be Honest guys, DOOM or Shadow Warrior 2. Which is better FPS on 2016?

Steam users are praising Shadow Warrior 2 very much. Saying lots of replaybility, Upgrades, Better Weapons on Higher Difficulties.

To them, who are playing Shadow Warrior 2 currently, also played DOOM 2016. Please answer. I'm currently downloading the game, will update impressions shortly. Didn't Enjoy Doom 2016 as much as Doom 3 tho :)

@indzman May I know as to why you didn't enjoy Doom 2016 as much as Doom 3? Doom 3 had a freaky atmosphere where you didn't know what was around the corner, you had to be on guard all the time especially since you had to switch between your flashlight and guns sometimes.

Doom 2016 seems to be more free flowing. They both seem to be neck and neck with respect to reviews, with Doom 3 slightly ahead. There was a a lot of hype around Doom 3, I still have the special edition PC Gamer mag that I brought when Doom 3 came out, whereas with Doom 2016, it was an unexpected surprise. I don't think many people thought how good the game would be.

One thing is for sure Doom 3 pushed graphics like no other. Easily the best looking game of 2004. Where as Doom 2016 does push graphics in terms of VRAM requiring 5GB+ video memory but I still don't think it tops the graphics of games like Battlefield 1 or Battlefront.

I enjoyed the spookiness of Doom 3 as scarce ammo, Hell minions lurking on shadows, Spiders, Blood and Death everywhere. Doom 2016 while a solid shooter, was not scary at all :)

Tbh Doom wasnt all its cracked up to be. The shooting mechanics and pace were really great and are much better than Shadow Warrior, but it was like playing a wave shooter for the most part with areas throughout the game that were set up like arenas for you to kill loads of respawning demons before moving on to the next area and doing it again.

If I had to choose between one or the other I would go with Shadow Warrior 2 without a doubt.

Guess I was wrong about Shadow Warrior, I thought they completely botched the idea of the original and turned it into Borderlands, but it seems quite close to the original :)

Good thread. Haven't played SW2 yet so I'm anxious to hear what ppl say in this topic.

On a side note: if you liked Doom3 but not Doom 2016, you probably weren't looking for what Doom 2016 was.

Doom 2016 is a fantastic gameand better than Doom 3 in every way.

We all know what ghosts4ever is gonna say... I haven't played Shadow Warrior 2 yet so I can't comment either.

Im downloading shadow warrior 2 now so will comment on it after I played it.

its not just arena shooter. Doom has complex level design and exploration/secrets too. SW2 is more open but Doom level design are more deep.

I'll get Sw2 today, so will get back to you after playing it. But I think I'll enjoy it more.

Doom is awesome, it ruined MC collection for me even further (tried playing Halo 2 the other day) and many other FPS campaigns. Haven't played Shadow Warrior 2 yet, but you can't go wrong with Doom.

Not sure if I'll ever play Shadow Warrior 2, but if I do I'll be pretty damn surprised if it stacks up to Doom 4.

Noticed some, tiny blemishes. NPC's stand around looking into space and take no damage (very much like Borderlands) and when you are very low on health an obnoxious blood effects shows up (carried over from the first game). If you are playing on the higher difficulties, this will be up constantly and ultimately just get on your tits, it does nothing beneficial for the game.

Aside from that Shadow Warrior 2 is the best FPS I've played in years that improves on the flawed original in almost every conceivable way.

How are you going to hype a game that literally just came out? It sounds like you haven't even played it yet. And yes, I have the game.

Few questions please.

1. Does one really unlock more powerful weapons on Highest Difficulty? and does it carry over on any difficulties (NG + ) ?

2. Does the game got Weapon upgrades like Original or Better stats weapons as in Borderlands (loot) ?

3. Do enemies scale to your level?

Shadow Warrior 2 uses set difficulties before you start. If I recall, it's something like enemies do 70%+ more damage, and have larger health pools, but you get better rewards.

The game has a huge pool of weapons, but they are hand made, not that procedurally generated shit where it's a billion guns, but they all look and play largely the same. They are upgraded with what is tantamount to ruins.

@ghosts4ever - Snipes, currently playing Wang. Definately much better than your DOOM 2016. Very fast paced compared to Doom. Sorry.

WOW, it got Spiders as well LOL. Playing on No Pain No Gain difficulty for best loot XD!

I dont know about Shadow Warrior 2 but Doom is not top notch , its just a good game , nothing more.

Indeed. Enjoying it more. Vast areas in a mission to explore, challenging / bulletsponge demons, tons of weapon and skill upgrades. Just got out of Yakuza mansion for next mission lol.

the thing is shadow warrior 2 has more open level design but Doom has more deeper and complex almost like early Doom games.

Play it and then decide for yourself if DOOM or SW 2 which is better. Wang is back with more wisecracks :)

I will enjoy both as both are my type of games. badass fast paced shooter but in the end my preference will be for Doom. its sci fi, I like its universe better, Im brand oriented thus fan of ID software and Doom series and want them to success. gameplay of Doom apeal to me more.

on other hand Lo Wang >> Doom slayer.

Its very fast paced compared to SW 2013. Instant Double Jump, Air Sprint, No Fall damage like Ninja, Various Katana moves for dismemberment. You will enjoy it very much, maybe more than DOOM.

DOOM is my GOTY so I'm probably really biased.

Shadow Warrior 2 looks fun as hell though

I love the hell out of DOOM, so if Shadow Warrior 2 is anywhere near it then it is something I'll have to try out.

That's two classic FPS that have made a comeback this year. All that's left is Unreal Tournament, but that probably won't come out this year.

Doom was pretty awesome, I haven't played Shadow Warrior 2 though.

Doom is almost definitely the best shooter of this decade. Shadow warrior was a fantastic game and i assume 2 is even better, but i cant fairly say its better/worse than doom until the console version releases and i play it.

I'd say Doom, although I still don't know why people loved it so much. Don't get me wrong, Doom was an awesome game, and I'm still definitely playing it, but it's quite repetitive. Other games get critiqued for being repetitive, but for Doom, not so much. Why is that?

Don't know but I plan to pick up Doom on Black Friday. Don't even know what Shadow Warrior 2 is.

they are different

DOOM is more old school.Shadow Warrior is like a mix of old and new with a hefty dose of diablo/borderlands.So far i am enjoying SW more.

Absolutely. its a pretty good game. but im sorry my friend. its not even a close to Doom let alone better. come on. Doom is in my top 5 FPS of all time let alone top 10 and SW2 is nowhere near. again its really good game anyways. one of the best of this year.

and LOL at this bieng more fast paced. only thing fast about SW2 is dashing. the movement is slow compare to Doom.

but anyways, im really enjoying it. its very fun. Lo Wang is such a badass and funny.

The only thing Shadow warrior 2 did better than Doom was meelee. but its useless in Doom as you can only use glory kill if demon was about to die ie mortal kombat finish him. SW2 meelee is fantastic and did much better

however everything else fall flat compare to Doom. especially Gunplay is miles better. I give credit to flying wild hog. SW2 gunplay is miles above previous game which suck. it improve upon previous SW in every way.
