Mine is plugged in to a $100.00 Monster power supply, and its resting on carpet, and I have had no problems.

Except with Forza 2

How about quit playing your system 24 hours a day 7 days a week and invest in a girlfriend. That could be the problem for some of my fellow lemmings

Mine didn't freeze that much, but it did straight up die.

It was plugged into a surge protector, but even when I put it into the wall it didn't start working again as the post suggests. Probably because it was too dead.

I've heard though that the power brick itself actually offers surge protection which could be why it's screwing up in surge protectors. So once I get my 360 back I'm definitly putting it straight into the wall.

I live in hope that it died because of this and not because of crappy hardware  PLEASE LET IT BE BECAUSE OF THE SURGE PROTECTOR!!!

Even if your 360 is fine you're really not supposed to link them together like that.

I've had mine in a cheap power strip (not exactly 99 cents though) since I got it a little after launch and I've never had a problem.

In the Booklet, it says be sure your powerstrip supplies the correct voltage. That means its okay to plug your 360 into a powerstrip as long as it can supply enough power. Anyone who is having this problem needs to either buy a better powerstrip, or has way too much **** plugged into the one they have.

How does a surge protector ruin your system? Isn't a surge protector supposed to prevent power surges or the like?

Well I have mine hooked up to one, but I'd be lieing if I said my 360 never had any problems. Though, I'm pretty sure moving my 360 to the living room and plugging it in my 3 pronged wall plug would help it. I have all my systems and connections on my surge protector, also all of them have never had a problem. Just my 360 with the Red Lights and GC were the only systems to die on me.

This is the best way to keep ur xbox360 working perfect without problems, remember that it needs to take off all the hot air from the 4 sides of the console, same with the power supply. sorry my pic are crappy and i using legos for that .

Legos FTW!!! :) By the way, totally speculative and un-scientific thread. You do whatever you have to do to make sure the system stays as cool as possible, and 99% of that is air-flow & ventilation, right? A surge protector is a good idea for ANY computer/gaming console.
