Hey Gamespot worshippers it's official...

Punch Out!! Wii>>Fight Night Round 4

Fight Night could not simulate it's way out of this butt kicking. The forces of Ali,Tyson,Foreman,Leonard, and Frazier combined could not avoid the deadly magic punches,triple star uppercuts, and disco flurries. :lol:

Wii has the best game featuring characters with boxing gloves and it's not even a boxing game.:lol:

Its kind of funny when yu thinnk about it but there was really no need for a thread. I'm sure FNR4 is till a great game.

You can beat every Fight Night single player campaign by button mashing. Try doing that in any Punch Out!! game and see what happens. So, it's more like comparing an addictive, creative, fun for everyone game, to a boring, un-inspired, button masher

TC you can't really button mash in FN4 since you use the analog stick to fight. Of course you wouldn't know that since you haven't played the game LOL. I can't anything about Punch Out since I haven't played it but it does look like a good title.

And Fight Night is way better than Punch Out if you are a boxing fan and know at least a little about boxing!

No. I am comparing a good game to a better game. I don't care about sports, that's why PO!! wins in the end. It can pull in sports fans and non-sports fans.

Punch Out = the same pattern based, timing based, learn and play type game I played almost 20 years ago.

Fight Night = a modern sports sim, with real physics, damage, movement, motion, and results.

Punch Out is old and stale... at least Fight Night brings new ideas to the table to keep the gende fresh to compete with UFC.

Oh lawl at thinking reviewers have same standards for 360/ps3 and wii. If compared side to side FNR4 would dominate PO in all categories if they were comparable. However one is on the wii which is insuperior as a console to 360/ps3 in terms of hardware (only thing is the motion controls) So reviewers have to take that into account otherwise every wii game would be docked for lacking graphical prowess, as well as tight controls, or a solid multiplayer. Anyway Gamespot is not the place for solid reviews, it has a bad track record of bad reviewers making bad calls. If you look at the overall average of reviews from critics across the board, both games have the same rating. So go back to playing your insuperior party game TC with all your little friends, and tell them how great PO i.

Yeah, that's the whole point. It can't be pigeon holed into one category, but the most common label that gets slapped on it is "puzzler with boxing theme".

TC have you played Fight Night 4? It isn't as bad as you make it out to be. As for the scores of Punch Out and FN4 I can care less. I don't let scores decide what title I find better.

I have played both games and while punch out is fun for awhile it gets old, especially when i have been playing the super nintendo version for the past 2 years on my laptop. It doesnt really do much different then the old ones except that the opponents switch up their attacks from time to time making it a little bit tricky.

FNR4 im on the wall about. i loved the 3rd one and was gung ho about buying it right away when it came out but after playing it for an hour or two (my friend has it) im not so sure i want to buy it anymore. The graphics are amazing and the new physics engine is great but there is wayyyyy too much emphasis on counterpunching. I could outland an equal opponent 100 to 20 but if they have all counter punches they do an inordinate amount of damage.

Not to mention alot of the boxer rankings are really off base. They have pacquiao rated only 1 point better than miguel cotto that is ridiculous, any real boxing fan knows that the pac man is alot better than Cotto and the game should show this. Not to mention inside fighters have a much better chance to win fights than outside boxers do.

In the old fight nights i could outbox anyone and stay away from damage and dance if i so chose to but not so much in this new iteration. The emphasis is on inside body punching and counter punching. Also jabs dont do much of anything. Wow this trned out to be more anti fight night then i thought. But with that said the 2 games should have scored equally.

All this means is that FNR 4 isn't quite as good of a boxing sim as Punch-Out is a boxing-themed arcade game...thing.Cherokee_Jack
