I dont know about anyone else but i think pokemon might make a huge comeback when the DS games hit. Ive talked to soo many people that are planning on buying it, and with the huge DS userbase in the states im thinking pokemon is comming back. I havnt followed pokemon since the glory days of only 150 but i cant wait to play the new DS version. Not to mention the wii version of pokemon stadium having online support!! excitement anyone...?sephroth_basic
It never left unless you're thinking about the stupid cartoon.
Pokemon will make its real comeback when Nintendo actually decides to make a real console Pokemon game. Only then will that claim hold credence.patboxWhen a pokemon online MMO comes or a real pokémon rpg which is as good as the handheld ones I think the nintendo executives can start opening a second bank account to store their money. That's going to be crazy.

True. Sometimes developers can do some strange things. This is one of those things.
actually i have a theory. hear me out. When you think about it, all pokemon was that made it good was an idea. the whole idea of collecting monsters, training them and battling them. the idea was executed well at first. but now, if you actually think the game has evolved as much as it should have over these years, you're an idiot. Anyway, my theory is, maybe Gamefreaks (or whoever it is that actually make the pokemon games) aren't good enough to make it into an mmo. it would end up sh*t. so they stick to a formula that has worked for like 10 years. and hasn't changed much in that time either. inter_wogThats probably logical, but Im gonna stick with the developers just being idiots who can't and won't realise they're standing in front of a pot of gold.

Yep, they could also just hire a team of very skilled online developers to help them integrate the old formula in an MMO. Maybe they could have blizzard as a partner. If blizzard would only get 25% of the profit they'd be overjoyed already.

You mean a 10th or so pot of gold (how many pokemon games are there??) even those junk pokemon ranger games that got like a 3 at GI (I dont know what they got here) made best seller list

And that has what to do with a home console Pokemon MMORPG?ithilgore2006Well, ok you've got a point there. If it's servered it would be possible though. Still I saw a video of something called "pokémon battle revolution" or something for the wii, and it basically had the exact same gameplay of red and blue, but with extra graphics. From that I take it they aren't really trying.
I'm right now looking at this game called Maple Story on the DS. It was a PC MMORPG in Korea, now its being ported into the DS. Maple Story will be the first MMORPG the DS will have and its a 2D sidescroller game as well.
If Maple Story can be done with the DS then an MMO Pokemon can surely work. But Gamefreaks has to be inspired by an MMO game in order to make an MMO Pokemon.

For all we know they could be working on one that won't be due out until their online network is well established.
Me Too :( my first system ever, gameboy pocket age 8 and Blue verisonLol i remember the good old days pokemon red on my gameboy pocket.

Pokemon didn't really go anywhere, it still sells amazingly well, it's just not cool any more. Somewhere out there, there are millions of closet Pokemon players, either that or Iwata is buying them all himself. In fact recent Japanese indications hint that it's actually getting more popular (perhaps attributed to the sucess of the DS). As for the console versions, they never do that well anyway.
As stated earlier, Pokemon sells so well it can't really make much of a comeback anyway.

You know that why they are working 10th movie and Cartoon network just said that the Pokemon numbers have been going back up.
Yes I did say 10th movie
