the forums have always been relevant (I guess), but gamespot as a site became a joke to me after the condemned 2 review. That was disgusting, especially since it was post-gerstmann

It does seem that the site overall just doesn't have that same weight to it after the whole K&L scandal. SW, however has been more of the same.
In my opinion, when Jeff left. I come here for the forums. I go to GiantBomb for reviews, previews, and when I need a good laugh(Rogue Warrior Quick Look was hilarious!)
Scandal? What scandal?
windsquid9000
Yeah, wasn't really what I'd call a scandal. More like, the dumbest move any site could make.
In my opinion it went all down hill as soon as Rich Gallup left. He truly held this website together

Dumb move? What Dumb move? Can someone please tell me what's going on?I don't see how giving out two 10's would make Gamespot irrelevant. I don't necessarily agree with the scores, but do you think the reviewers here on Gamespot really care about ANYTHING other than what they think of the game? They can't review video games based on the perceptions of others, because they can't read minds. Sorry guys. :?
But really, the Gerstmann thing was crap. Other than that I'd say Gamespot is still relevant in my mind. At least, more so than IGN.
Ever since they changed the scoring system and kasavin and gerstmann left. KVO is the only true reviewer that reviews PC games now :(
gamespot has never b een a joke to me, however I must admit that after jeff gerstmann left I went to giantbomb for my reviews, and actually made an account here and use only the forums here now.
I don't neccesarily disagree with Demon's Souls being the GOTY, but for it to be called a better role-playing-game than Dragon Age Origins, is pathetic. However the rest of Gamespot is pretty solid, its not silly though I may have more respect for IGN than Gamespot after their 2009 rpg flounder.

Dumb move? What Dumb move? Can someone please tell me what's going on?Jeff Gertsmann, the best thing to ever happen to this site in the history of forever, got fired. Most people say it has to do with the Kane & Lynch reviews, but both parties have said that it was a separate dispute. In short, GS fired the best employee ever.

How is it pathetic? I'm not defending one or the other, I'm just wondering about your reasoning.
The forum became a joke as soon as people starting calling each other by barnyard animal names.

So...it's pretty much always been a joke is what you're saying.

Alright first of all have you played both? If you have do you think the role playing depth of Demon Souls was even half of Dragon Age Origins? In other words Demon Souls is closer to hack n slash than Dragon Age Origins is to the the embodiment of a perfect role playing game.

I agree with you on that. I don't think naming Demon's Souls a better RPG over DA:O is pathetic though. It just differs from your opinion.
btw, yes I have played Dragon Age, and it's one of my favorite RPGs of all time.

But they give the award to the game that they most liked, not the game that held most to genre conventions. I see literally nothing wrong with that.Dumb move? What Dumb move? Can someone please tell me what's going on?[QUOTE="windsquid9000"][QUOTE="Phoenix534"]

Exactly. I never used to come here half as many times as other people came here back then, and even I knew that. GS really messed up big time when they did that. Didnt other editors leave though because of what they did to Jeff? So it mustve been something, it mightve very well been that Kane & Lynch thing. Personally, I dont know how you can 100% know that reviews are ok on this site if they would do something like that to their best employee. And for gamespot to act like it never hapen is just silly.

For some reason I read that as "But they give the award to the game that they most liked, not the game that had the most generic conversations"
Haha Yea, I'm being serious. But that was just when I took a quick glance at it.
Luckily it makes sense either way :P

Hey now, I beg to differ. Very few conversations with Morrigan were generic :P ...you'd be right if we were talking about Allistair though.100% agreed, that man is a master of his craft. In my opinion it went all down hill as soon as Rich Gallup left. He truly held this website together

The vast majority of posters on this whole site are ignorant and obnoxious. Look at any comments on any article. The users are a far bigger "joke" then the staff/articles etc. Same for most big internet sites. The ignorant are usually the loudest, and rudest.
I never took it seriously because I never take reviews seriously. It's on the same level as taking a fanboys opinion seriously. I prefer to form my own.

I love watching Allistair and Morrigan argue :P But back to Demons Souls vs Dragon Age: I liked Demon's Souls more because of the combat and atmosphere.
