So, since Starcraft II hype subsided, it is safe now to compare it to other RTS games from this gen. Do you still think that SCII is the best of them? If not, what RTS game is better in your opinion? Sadly GS polls allow only 5 answers, so I've tried to choose the games that got the most praise, while many other games, like DoW2 or Red Alert 3 or Halo Wars didn't fit.

World in Conflict.

Starcraft 2 would be my #2 with Company of Heroes following close at 3 with Empire Total War at 4 and Sins of a Solar Empire at 5.

All are amazing however.

Damn, it must suck to not beable to play those games.

Easly SC2, a good second is Comapny of heroes and the rest disappointed me, especially the new CnC, worst in the entire series

I don't know about 'best', as I don't often play RTS and suck at it when I do. I will say, though, that Age of Empires III is a very fascinating game.I always play it to relax, it just has such good atmosphere. It's one of those games that's easy to get into and hard to put down.

While i know the correct answer is StarCraft 2, i don't want to ignore a master piece known as Company of Heroes, so i'm going to say, both.

Starcraft II is probably an ideal sequel for fans of the original SC and classic RTS games. But it is also a safe bet on a Blizzard side. I believe that Company of Heroes is a better game but it cannot even dream about as big fanbase as SC has. Starcraft II is just Starcraft - it stomps over any other RTS while being the same game from 1998 people know and love.

Although I love StarCraft, Company of Heroes was very innovative and had great gameplay back in 2006 and the game is still played a lot today. My vote goes to it.

I think its a tie between Company of Heroes and StarCraft 2. Sure WiC was amazing in terms of single player and graphics, but the multiplayer wasn't very balenced due to it being jump in and play.

Sins of a Solar Empire, for me. I'm pretty bad at RTSes, but that game actually made it playable by having really good unit AI that didn't require micromanagement of the battles. I'm kind of a "big picture" guy anyway. Though when you start looking at how many great RTSes there were just this generation, it's rather impressive.

Not just great but also unique, when compared to simple C&C and SC clones we saw 10-8 years ago.

sins of a solar empire and empire total war are much less comparable to SC 2 imo. two very different approaches to the genre.

with that said, out of that list, SC 2 easily.

That list can use some Sins of a Solar Empire and World in Conflict. I never did play WiC though.

From what I've played Company of Heroes and Dawn of War 2.

Damn, it must suck to not beable to play those games.

It did, good thing I have a new PC.

DS RTS: Lego Battles. Great RTS. But for the PC, I'd have to say C&C: Tiberium Wars.

Why is DoW in the poll? Isn't it from 2002? That's last gen.

SC2 wins easily this gen...the only game I had this much fun with is Crysis, and Crysis doesn't last one hundredth of SC2.

I'm assuming he means Dawn of War 2.

He said in his post he didn't include DoW2 because it wasn't "critically acclaimed" enough.

Total War games arn't really an RTS, they deserve a more accurate description like Real Time Tactical.

Company of Heroes would get my vote.

Company of Heroes. Even though it's probably not as balanced as SC2, its gameplay mechanics are way better.

Company of Heroes #1 for me but Starcraft 2 was good too, a better question is why is this on system wars when not 1 console RTS is featured (not that they can compete but still)

Ugh. I wished that Sins would turn into a series. It was an EXCELLENT game. A little more polish and it would have been fantastic. However, Starcraft is the original badboy of the RTS genre. Blizzard tore it up with their sequel.

Remove C&C 3 and put sins of a solar empire instead. Much better option
