Poll: Did You Ever Hope A Game Would Fail?

for some strange reason, reading that shadows of the damned BOMBED brought an ear-to-ear smile to my face. I think its because suda went for a more generic style to appeal to the western gamer, and now that it blew up in his face hopefully he'll say '**** this and go back to making weird, obscure, imaginative titles. if SOTD had been a success, he would have pumped out more generic garbage like it, thinking that's what people want, so in a way i'm glad it failed.

Wanting a game to fail is pretty pathetic. People on this site can take the subject of gaming way too seriously.

i want ultimate marvel vs capcom 3 to fail but other than that, nope, i want all games to do well because people worked hard on them

I was hoping Fable 3 would fail because I hoped that Lionhead studios would move back to the Black and White series.

Yes! When games like COD and all of its DLC become a success, then we as gamers lose out.

Games I don't like, I don't play, as simple as that...I can't stand COD, but it's success doesn't bother me at all.More power to em. They just won't get my money.

for me it's COD BO , MW3 and DMC . BO didn't fail and MW3 wont ( except in my dreams ) but i have high hopes for DMC to have an epic fail TheGrudge13

I don't hope games fail. I might lol when certain ones do, but I don't go out of my way to pray one fails at first.

If I'm perfectly honest with myself, I want CoD to fail. I actually think the games are alright but it's success has had such negative influences on the industry.

If it's sales were cut by 90% somehow, it'd still make a bomb and carry on doing what it's doing. And I'm fine with that. Just as long as it doen't take potential sales away from games are better deserving of them.

Kinda, I guess? I want bad games to not sell great, but I don't just want games to be dismal failures because they aren't made by a developer I like or aren't on a system I have. That's horribly pathetic. People's lives hang on the balance with these games and when you want a game to fail out of blind hatred, you're doing nothing but hoping the people on the dev team and their families have to go through hard times while looking for a new job and that's incredibly sad.

I don't want a game to be bad, but I wish that critics would review certain games like I do. Gears of War is not a franchise I like one bit, so if the third one doesn't evolve, I would like to see critics get 6s. But if the consumers want more of the same then I don't want it to fail them too. I hate a lot of games, I hate that CoD sells as much as it does, I hate that Gears of War is as highly regarded as it is, but all I would ever want is to see reviewers wisen up and give these games low scores so people would stop talking them up. I don't want the games to dip in quality, I don't want them to bankrupt the developer, but I can admit to wanting games to review poorly for being the same old garbage.

I honestly don't want to see any video game fail, but now that I've seen "Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3" (never thought I'd say this especially about a Capcom game) I want it to FAIL.

Yeah, until you wait 10 years for a particular game, spend $60.00 of your hard-earned money on itwhen it's finally released, and then the company turns around only a few months later and releases an "Ultimate" version of the same game and it becomes a whole new situation.

depends, ive always wanted the ps brand to fall ,

i dont know why maybe because how sony handled ps2 , disc read errors etc less exclusives ,

i remember back in the day on ps1 it had awsome games , but once ps2 hit shelfs i got one , 2 yrs later i still did not see many exclusives i was interisted in , and im not that big on rpgs then as i just got into some of them this gen ,

so ps2 just really did not offer me what ps1 offered me ,

but i wasnt hoping for it to fail as in go out of business but fail in terms of making the future decision in the gaming industry

and gladly nintendo picked up their pieces this gen because i still have not found many ps3 titles either that have the same playability as wii games like mariokart or goldeneye007 have fun with your cheap port by the way lol , glad i got the wii version when i did cause bloodstone is bad awful beat it in 3 hours lol no sweat broke

and for pd0 well i knew it would because the original team moved over to timesplitters which have now became defunct so you wont see -not counting the xbla port , you wont see that kind of perfect dark again

No, I don't ever hope a game will do poorly. There are certain franchises out there that frankly I couldn't care less if they did less than expected, but to wish failure upon them is self-defeating, both for the gamer and the industry as a whole.
