i didn't like it. it looks inoffensive now. the other 2 diablos looked like you were really going to hell to fight the demon. now it's looking cartoony and casualised.

I actually prefer the old art than this..but oh well...as long as I have more diablo goodness to play, who cares about the art direction! :lol:

Thats exactly it, and this is why the game is going to be such a great seller. They took a look at one of there previous games, and TOTALLY remade the graphics. Its awesome. :)

I prefer the darker and more gothic art-style, but the new one isn't too bad.

Diablo 1 and 2's art direction is more centered around medievel times kinda..D3 is more mythological to me, kind of like in a god of war setting but diablo 3, i still like D3 art direction..but 1 and 2 still look better to me.

I love the new direction, but the old style seemed unique. The new direction reminds me a lot of newer games like God of War instead of a more gothic style.

Heck yeah, it's freaken awesome. I love 2D for this kind of game. But, Blizzard made me into a believer that 3D is the future... FINALLY.

A lot of the textures of D3 look like they could be straight out of WoW actually. this is a big departure from the previous style.

why dont you post a screenshot of diablo 1 and 2 with "lava" from caves/river of flame ? i think the best graphics and scary theme based were in diablo 1. diablo 2 was not scary at all. that diablo 3 screenshot looks to me like an early alpha/beta screenshot of warcraft 3.

Yes. Diablo II is 2D and it's art style would not translate well to 3D.

I like the art style, but I don't like it for Diablo III.
Regardless, that alone won't keep me from enjoying the game.
