Thank you.
It's not even a 9.0 game. I gave it an 8.5
The PS3 version yes, at the time the 360/PC one came it was super impressive, it deserved what it got.
Its not the best game ever made. It is much better with lots of PC modifications, which does turn it into the best hack and slash ever in my opinion.
The only way in which Oblivion is the best ever is in terms of the size of its gaming world. It is the biggest and most ambitious in that sense. Unfortunately because of its random and generic nature it is not well designed or crafted.

What are some of the pc mods that arnt related to graphics? Iv got the game for PC but i cant play it until i get my new graphics card.
No offense, but I despise Oblivion, and I also strongly disapprove of the developers. Specifically the way they lied through their teeth in the many preview videos before the game was released.
And for the record I am in no way a fan of Morrowind and Daggerfall.
I dont know about the xbox 360 or PS3 version and they are probably not even close. Neither is the PC version when its vanilla (unmoddded)
But the mod community has provided this game with like a gilliontrillionzillion mods and tweaks for this game. I've modded my Oblivion with 5gb's of pure sweetness (tweaks, graphical updates and addons).
With those its definately among the best in my opinion.

It doesn't even have the largest gameworld in its own series, and was far less ambitious than, say, Gothic 3 (which had a larger, dynamic gameworld).
No, Oblivion is very far away from being anywhere close to being one of the best games ever.
*Edit* Not even with mods.
No, The level scaling was dumb. Feels like your slowly getting weaker while the enamies slowy get stronger. It's easier to nevel level up in the first place.Marka1700
Yea, lol it was a mistake leveling up really high before starting the main quest, instead of being more powerful and easier which is the point of leveling up i found it really hard, but on a really low level it was alot easier.
lol @ ppl who think oblivion > WoW in anyway possible
that just blows my mind WoW
oblivion = 1/10000 the size of WoW end of discussion
I thought Oblivion was fantastic. Best game ever made? That is like saying, "What is the best song ever written?" It is impossible to determine that because a game, or a song, will have different meaning to various individuals.
Is Oblivion one of the best games made? For me the answer is yes. I'd put it easily in my top 10 list.
I could care less about what proceeded it, what people had for expectations, and how dumbed down it supposedly was. It provided over two months of gaming for me. I couldn't stop playing, and itwas anexcellent value for the money. I have the PC version, and there are tons of mods and single player campaings available, and also there are a couple of professional expansion packs.
A game is entertainment. Oblivion provided hours upon hours of excellent entertainment for me where I wasn't aware of how much time was passing. To me, that is the mark of a great game.

Then oscuros oblivion overhaul is for you. Actually, you probably are tired of the whole game anyways, so nvm mods.

Yeah.....there are mods out now, that fix almost every complaint I had about vanilla Oblivion...The poll results made me giggle.
I have Oblivion. I played it for 4 hours straight, then another 4 the next day, and never played it again. It reminds me of an MMORPG. The game requires a lot of time it seems, and I really don't want to miss out on any great games. So, I quitted Oblivion.
not even close.gamertylers
I played Oblivion for 60 hours and it got boring; I agree that it's no way near.
The entire Zelda, Mario, Half-Life, KOTOR, Halo and SSB franchises are better than it, as well as such games as Skies of Arcadia, Deus Ex, Mass Effect, countless N64 titles and many more.
Oblivion is good, but nothing special by any stretch.
Please go download The Elder Scrolls: Arena. It's free.
EDIT: In reference to Wasdie's post a couple above mine, there's a mod out there that will fix it. Makes encounters random...which can make it pretty difficult in the beginning when wandering around the wilderness, but well worth it as you get stronger. Plus even as you get to the status of being a "badass", the upper echelon of dremora are still tough.
