Well, for me, the Dual Shock 2 is the best controller for recent systems (and all time).  It works great for all games, from shooters to sports games.  The dual analogs and the shoulder buttons work like a charm, and it looks very sleek and comfy.  You can effortlessly play all games with it.

While we're on the subject, what do you think the worst controller in history is?

Xbox 360! It is just the perfect controller. It feels durable, and the button and stick layout is far superior to the competitors.

The worst to me is the Dualshock 2. I disliked the layout of the sticks. They were way to close together, and it was uncomfortable. The D-Pad was nice though.

I love the 360s controller, the new dual shock is just the same as the old one, and I haven't used a Wiimote yet.

when it comes to comfort, the Xbox 360 controller cant be beat. the button layout is nice, and the rumble is better than any controller I have ever used. the only complaint I have about it is the color scheme. it makes it look too much like a toy.

Definately the Wii Remote. Every other controller you mentioned does the same thing. You press a button, something happens on screen. With the Wii Remote there are so many more options though.

I think I'd have to go with the XBOX 360 controller. Overall a great controller and a fantastic improvement over the original XBOX's controller.

With out a doubt the xbox 360 controller.  The only genre it doesn't own all the other with is fighting because of the the D-Pad.

If you've used all extensively, it's a shoe in.

I really dont like the PS2 controller because of the analog stick layout and how small the handles are.  I love the 360 controller.  If you could put the PS2 d-pad on it, there would be no need for anything else.

I would say wii-mote I just like the feel. I also notice something about the original xbox conteoller and the 360 one. I notice it has the same analog placement as the GC controller. Thats why when I played a shooter game it felt good because the GC remote was best fit for shooters. I was just wondering if anyone notice this to. So I guess a 360 vote is a vote for the GC controller since MS rip off the analog placement and thats what makes the 360 controller seem like the best fit for shooters.

I really liked the GameCube controller. It felt pretty perfect within my hands (which are fairly small). The Xbox 360 controller is really good for FPS because the analogue sticks are in the best places. The PS2-dualshock is pretty awesome as well and feels really nice to hold. I would like them to release an alternative version with the analogue and the d-pad positioning switched.

Yeah, but the GameCube sticks aren't nearly as good for FPS games, especiall the C-stick.

I disagree. Hermit gamers outnumber console gamers 5:1 and yet there is no rumble KB+mouse.

kb + mouse is a more accurate way of playing games. it doesnt need rumble.

the sixaxis on the other hand is a mess of copying and rush design.

IMO the dual shock 2 is the most versitile controller, best suited for a variety of different types of games.

The Xbox controller is made for FPS games.

And the GC controller ummm, was designed prolly for 1st party nintendo games more than anything.

But overall DS2>All.

The Xbox and Xbox 360 controllers fit well into my hands and they have a great button layout for most genres. The Wiimote is very comfortabe and every game I've played for it plays well (except a few hiccups in Red Steel). Recently after I got my Wii i bought a GC controller; it takes getting used to but now its my favorite traditional controller. The only controller that I'm not much a fan of is the Dualshock because its hella uncomfortable after playing for a while (in my case) and its analog sticks have horrible placement (other than that it has good button placement).

The motion sensing of the Wii-mote is essentially another button imo. As far as I'm concerned though, Wii remote is best for some genres, 360 is better for others. The 360 controller feels solid in your hands, and the layout is just perfect. The Wii remote feels ergonomical and lets you play without your hands 2 inches apart, which allows for more comfort and freedom. Personally, I've always hated the Playstation controllers. The uncomfortable sticks is my biggest grip with it.

The 360 controller is the best by far. I hate the positioning of the analogue sticks on the dualshock, and therent arent enough good Wii games that really make good use of its controller yet.

The Dualshock 2. It's good for every genre. I don't know why people think the 360 controller is. It's terrible for fighting and action.

Wii-mote and Nunchuck hands down.

For a standard controller the 360 wins for sure. I don't know how many can enjoy playing on the too small, and non-conforming to my hands ps2 controller, with badly placed analogs and no triggers.
