Poll: Who Has The Best "Free" Games for July?

"Free" games for July have been announced for Xbox and PlayStation players. Xbox titles include Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Gears of War 3, So Many Me, and Plants vs. Zombies. PlayStation got Entwined, Geometry Wars 3, Rocket League, Styx: Master of Shadows, Geometry Wars 3, and Rain.

So how about it, Which of the two platforms had the better free games for July?

There's no comparison here, Sony won last month easily with MGS:GZ. This month has already been won by MS with Gears of War 3.

I'd say Sony this month with Geo Wars 3 on Vita and Rocket League being the standouts and the rest being decent imo.

MS has Gears 3 that interests me and the rest are meh.

LOL at MS releasing a free Android game as a free GWG game.

The one giving real games, Microsoft.

So why is the GWG so wierd?

AC4 for a full month , the other game is from July 16 till mid August , and the 360 games are split half and half.

PSN maybe giving some indie games but at least they are all 1 month.

Styx wins for me, if you haven't played black flag I'd give to MS.

I own everything MS is offering so for me the better selection is from Sony. Xbox definitely offering the better goods this month though if I didn't.

Styx is good but Black Flag is beast... Probably my last AC game for several years. So, Xbox wins.

Looking at just the Xbone and PS4:

Four PS+ games for PS4.

Two GWG games for Xbone.

It's not the greatest month for either for me.

For GWG, I own GeoW3, Plants Vs. Zombies, and AC4 (I don't even like AC games). That leaves one game So Many Me (a free android game) to check out. PvZ is pretty embarrassing. I despise AC games, but I recognize it as a quality offer for others. That leaves GeoW3 which I think was a great game to release for GWG, but it's a shame I own it.

For PS+ I own Rain. That leaves Entwined, Geometry Wars 3, Rocket League, Styx: Master of Shadows, and Mousecraft to check out.

I've heard fantastic things about PS+'s Rocket League, so there's that. I've wanted to check out Geometry Wars 3, Styx, and Entwined. Glad I waited on those.

I did talk to Xbox and tell them to stop reusing the same GWG game month after month on Xbone, so I'm happy to see them listen to the fans (I'm certain others complained) and have two new Xbone games this month.

Yeah, me too. I pay 10 bucks a month, so they should totally give us 120 dollars worth of games each, and every month!

AC Black Flag alone gives this one to the Xbox One... if you haven't played it that is, I got it free with my console months back meaning this awesome giveaway is of utter waste on me. And Gears of War 3 was one of the weaker Gears, and as far as I know X1 BC lacks multiplayer and DCL for time being.

If I had a PS4 and PS+ I might see the better deal there. Though interestingly for this month I'm surprised by all the same titles over the various platforms. I think I like the idea of different games being offered on each platform. Not a plus for PS+ in my book but still might be the better deal since I already have AC:BF already.

Black Flag should be winning this on its own, clearly GWG.

@ultimateimp: sony are lazy with plus we never get triple A games anymore since 2014 its been indies i wouldnt mind indies if we got 2 triple As every month with them not all indies i wish i could cancel my plus but i need it for the online on ps4 so im screwed its not fair

A lot of people have Plus, even though they don't necessarily play online games. My PS+ is expiring this month, and I only play offline games for the most part like Bloodborne. So I'm not going to renew it.

Guys guys, you get to KEEP the games on the xbox. That makes it a win.

For a moment I thought Sony was a good contender due to Heavy Rain, but it was just Rain... Microsoft easily the winner

Microsoft took this month hands down. I'm really disappointed with the PS plus offering this month considering I'm a pretty new subscriber to the service.

Actually, you don't get to keep games on Xbox.

You get to keep games on Xbox 360, but not on Xbox one.

DriveClub is out recently, Geo Wars 3 is gonna be great on Vita, I've been interested with rain before, and I've wanted to play Mousecraft for a while, especially on Vita. Styx looks whatever, Entwined sucks, and Rocket League is gonna really be the jackpot here that put it over GwG for me.

On the other hand, Black Flag is boring, I've worn out Gears of War 3 many times over, and Plants vs Zombies is not fun without a touchscreen. So Many of Me or whatever it's called has an ugly art style but I am admittedly curious because it's a puzzle platformer and I love puzzle platformers.

Value for value probably GwG. AC4 + Gears 3. 2 AAA games right there, even if both slightly dated by now. In any case, great value on those 2 games alone. Then you also have the original PvZ which is always a fun time!

On a personal level, Geo Wars 3 and Rocket League are pretty cool titles and I'm looking forward to playing them.

Xbox wins hands down. Also for all that say you don't keep the games its rubbish because I have all the xbox one games I have downloaded for free. Always available as there linked to your account. I sold one xbox and purchased a new one (changed colour) logged in to new console and bam! all the games I had downloaded for last 1 1/2 years free from xbox one gold service available to download again.

PC has DOTA, LoL, Heroes of the Storm, and Hearthstone.

I don't think it's fair to discount games just because you personally have them. I'm pleased with several of the offerings for PS+, but MS has two very good AAA titles this month (though PvZ? That's flat out embarrassing).

I own every single GWG game for 360 and Xbone. I've been with Xbox Live over a decade with the original Xbox. This change in GWG policy is old news. They changed the policy for Xbone to emulate PS+ to attract newer and better games as publishers were apprehensive to give away newer games forever.

Same here. I don't even consider the PSVita games since Microsoft doesn't have a handheld system to compete with it. All of the PS games are Indie games. Rocket League, Geometric Wars 3 & Styx are probably the best for this month. The other games are pretty average.

On the XBox platforms we get a couple of big name retail games in AC: Black Flag & Gears of War 3. They are a bit old, but still are quality games. Plants vs Zombie is very old though. I've never even heard of the other game. I'd say Microsoft takes this one, but ho-ho-hooooo. If you included the PSPlus version of DriveClub, then I would give it to the Sony PS platforms.
