The wiimote is the biggest selling point, and the fact that it comes with Wiisports, and also that its 250 dollars. I think its not one specific reason, but a combined effort.
Most the people I know who bought it was because it was different from the Xbox360 and PS3.. Thats the reason why I bought the Wii for my self.. Being primaryly a PC gamer, I see that the PC already does what the other two do and alot of times surpass them.. But it can not mimic or surpass the Wii in gameplay.. Thus why I bought it.
i said it before and ill say it again: ppl that dont know a lot about games buy it because it's got an "interesting" controller and it's very cheap...they dont know the truth(wii is gc with the wii-mote)

I agree, thats why i made this poll. To make ppl realize that wii just sold the most because its cheap and the wiimote, also a free game. Its not really the nex-get and nothing compared to 360 and ps3 IMO

...and back on the subject, I agree with goodlay (awesome avatar btw), the combination of it's cheap price, new technology, and a library that appeals to both gamers and nongamers is the reason why it's selling so well
none of those reasons. The answer is extremely obvious. Everyone, including the non gamers love the Wii Mote. Its an easy way to get into gaming. Its also advertised everywhere as something amazing. Its like these stupid news reporters and column writers haven't been paying any attention to tech recently

Well last gen I had all the consoles. This gen I only wanted one. I thoguht for a long while and decided that I liked the Nintendo all gen exclusives better than the other consoles. But it was close between NInty and SOny. Thank goodness I didn't get a PS3

I'm the same, had them all last-gen and originally planned on owning just a Wii. Got one at launch, now I'll be trading it in for a 360 Falcon. I'd even take a PS3 over it now (which I'll be getting too eventually), but each to his own we're all different.
I can't vote because 1. I don't believe its one of those, its a combo deal. 2. the spelling is aweful and you're too lazy to even fix it.
Anyway. Wii is selling because its a HUGE name in gaming. It is selling becasue of its history and first party titles that have always helped a Nintendo console sell. Did I say always, ALWAYS. It sells becasue it brings a new innovative idea to gaming. We they the first company to have motion sensing games interacting with the public? No. Are they the only console with motion sensing capabilities? No. But they are the first to put it in a console in the way that they have done it. A way that has made it easy for people of all ages to play their games. And the little b@st@rd is cheap!! Its really a great console.
But, I also don't think the Wii is in the same game with 360 and PS3. Do the markets cross into each other? Hell yes they do! But they aren't aimimg in the same direction. Blah, blah, blah, my rant is over.
