http://n4g.com/news/1015701/e3-resident-evil-6-leon-demo-wastes-my-time-destructoid

Wow..just wow. Totally convinced capcom just care for riding the name alone and making a quick buck, otherwise..if they think this is what we want or what the standards should be, then their views/tastes are so twisted to even try to understand at any level. Even for those who enjoyed RE5 or the action elements, there are simple too many games already out that play BETTER!

Yikes, I don't like the sound of that. The Leon campaign was the only reason I was interested in RE6 in the first place :(

This really isn't about RE6. He is just talking about how nothing happens in the demo. He also says the Chris and Jake demos are much better.

There will OBVIOUSLY be more to Leons part, but just looking at the mechanics of movement, gunplay it is so pale and unsatisfying. Even Revelations looked better than this game, seriously. Really piss poor animations, (reload, door animations, etc) that have barely changed since 4. and STILL requiring 2 people to open a freaking door. gsus.

Just embrace the fact that the series turned action with a splash of horror coated paint, it belongs to the CoD ccrowd now i.e. everyone who knows nothing of gaming beyond what they see and hear on the TV and from their buddies.

I wish people would stop posting N4G and post the actual article. Anyway the control issues kind of bugs me, but I didn't think the demo look too bad.

Remember the days when capcom said RE6 would be a total reboot like RE4.. Yeah.. BS. It's just another generic shooter made even more generic then RE5.

Not sure what to think of this, classic Resident Evil's have a lot of slow paced moments with very little happening too.

Everybody claims they were resident evil fans since the begining. Funny thing is...few were. Resident Evil didn't exactly fly off shelves and even when it hit greatest hits stature...it took a while.

I BOUGHT Resident Evil for the Playstation (the one with the tall case with chris staring at a spider), no dual shock...no directors cut...nothing. I bought RE2 and 3 Nemesis when they came out and heck I bought Survivor because Resident Evil was so sweet.. I bought a Dreamcast 9-9-99 and believe me when Code Veronica came out..I had it.

Resident Evil was remade...so I HAD to buy a gamecube. The remake was great...and then I bought zero when it came out.

.....Then, Resident Evil 4 was announced. I read the previews. Behind the back? Faster paced? New enemies?

I bought the game with the strategy guide...the game was different, but I enjoyed the game. The story was getting a little far fetched, but Ada and Leon were in it and everything played out ok. The action was faster, but puzzles and some survival and weapon conservation stayed around...but RE was straying from its roots.

Skip ahead to the next gen...Resident Evil 5. Just looking at previews and so forth and big huge Chris Redfield...I already didn't want it.

Well I borrowed it from a freind and beat the game in co-op with another friend. The story wasn't all that great, the survival horror went straight out the window... and frankly I didn't enjoy myself. Wesker didn't feel like Wesker, Jill didn't feel like Jill, and heck I thought Chris was Marcus Fenix...was Chris on steroids the whole time he left the Spencer estate?

That was the last straw...I said to myself. Capcom you need to go back to your roots with Resident Evil. 3rd person was fun with RE 4 and different...but RE doesnt need to stay that way.

Well I see the videos for 6. Story looks even more far fetched...the gameplay is RE5 and as A TRUE RE fan like some of you...well I'm disappointed and unfortunately I must play the original RE's (0,1,2,3,CV, & 4) to have a fun time.

I wish Capcom could wipe 5 and 6 from the RE history books but they want $$$ like EA and Ubisoft. Videogame crash of 2013 here we come!!!

the thing is from what iv seen this is slow paced and jsut going down a hall with some qte. Old RE game while slower paced had more leg room for you to look around and stuff. I keep hearing revelations jill part is close to old RE which is why I wanna play it. Also if revelations is indeed closer to old RE why is it so hard to translate that to the home console.

Ah! Those were the days. Back when I had super high expectations for it. Expected everything to feel so fresh. It's almost as if they thought about it and decided why bother truly coming up with something new that will reinvent the series when we will still sell just as much anyways?

Throw in Leon for the old school nutjobs and Michael Bay for everyone else. Put a block on grandfather Shinji Mikami's phone number and don't forget to cut out half of the game before finishing and BAM! Millions!

What's worse:

1) Reused Reload animation from RE4

2) Big RED explosive barrels, with enemies placed near by for dem EXPLOSIONS! (srsly, who still uses those?)

3) Reuse of WOODEN crates from RE4 for items (who stores such weaponary/ammo/items in wooden crates, considering the location?

4) Inventory ON THE FLY, which resembles a system to that of an arcade game.

5) A directional marker that tells you where to go if you get lost (considering how bloody linear RE5 was and 6 looks)

6) Slide, back roll ground dodge shoot maneuver used in a game with enemies who barely move fast enough?

7) Main character covers almost half the screen

8) 2 characters needed to open main doors.

9) Weskers SON

10) Even further simplified SLOW QTE. (compared to RE4, quicker and harder ones)

11) Bodies that now desolve like staked vampires.

12) Street fighter-like Melee system

13) I want Capcom to stop making games.

Laughed a few times during the video!

The more I see of RE6 the more I start to think; this generation, many japanese games just don't seem to reach the quality of western games. Look at this, I immediately think "japanese quality" when I see the game. It's just how everything plays out, the animations and controls all look uncomfortable and stiff. It's Resident Evil, a big title, yet it looks shoddy and half***** when compared to western games this generation.

The same guy posted two more impressions that were a bit more positive.

http://www.destructoid.com/resident-evil-6-chris-demo-is-action-movie-paradise-229293.phtml

http://www.destructoid.com/resident-evil-6-jake-demo-works-the-balancing-act-229298.phtml

It still looks damn clunky, as RE tends to be, but I'm still going to remain optimistic.

They are completely overreacting over a demo. The game looks good, they were just playing at a part that didn't have anything really going on. Just because it is not your typical Resident Evil 1 through 3, doesn't mean it isn't going to be a good game. I loved 5 anyways so I am waiting for 6.

I thought people wanted an action-free RE game that took it back to ultra cheesy writing, finding secret messages on scraps of paper, and looking for keys like the "classic" RE1? Capcom delivers that and now it's, "wares muh splosions and dragon punchin boulders?" Gamers hate everything.

Did you listened to what the guys were saying? THEY ARE USING THE COVER SYSTEM FROM OPERATION RACCOON CITY. Even tho that was ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS WHY ORC WAS HEAVILY PANNED BY CRITICS. Capcom SUCKS at listening, this cover system could break THE WHOLE GAME.

What the hell do you sad sacks want from these people?

This is just as bad as when people asked to move and shoot in Resident Evil, and the first thing people **** about Revelations was moving and shooting.

That guy in the video was a major douche,

But the demo did look absoltely abysmal. Granted Resident Evil games have ALWAYS had a completely rediculous and nonsensical story, so I don't think that is a valid crticism. But the rest of his criticism seemed spot on. I cannot stand watching a cutscene, and then also having very long stretches where you don't even get full control over the player and the game just pulls you along. It might as well just be another extended cutscene (i..e the reverse escort mission they are talking about). Where is the actual gameplay?

It looks like that demo really was, cutscene, follow, cutsene, follow, cutscene, QTE, cutscene. From the stage demo, they were showing a ton more QTE and scenes as well. It really is the worst of the worst when it comes to game design. RE5 wasn't even close to that bad, but if they are ramping up the QTE's even more over 4 and 5 then Capcom clearly just doesn't "get it". They have completely lost their way. Something that works in Heavy Rain, isn't necessarily going to work in Resident Evil lol. I'm actually getting tired of QTE's period, it seems like Tomb Raider and RE5 are going the wrong direction and taking this gimmick to a whole new level (with only Heavy Rain and Beyond being more QTE driven).

Well um, a survival horror game would be a great start. One withemphasis on survivial, puzzles, atomosphere, limited ammo, non-linear exploration, item finding, with the inclusion of an inventory system that you have to carefully manage. This stripped down generic shooter with QTEs doesn't include most of these. It's linear, packed with scripted events and mostly action. Perfect for the generic cloned gamers out there(aka teh masses)(aka not Resident Evil fans). Hope that answered your question.

Resident Evil stopped being survival horror when Resident Evil 4 came out (except Revelations), you're wasting your life complaining still. The new era of Resident Evil is set in stone. Quit yer b!tchin.

I am a gamer, but I probably wouldn't be considered a gamer because I enjoy games, rather than NOT play them, and instead criticise everything about them.

I've been playing Resident Evil for as long as I can remember, since the dawn of RE on the PS1. I'm not annoyed by any of the changes made to the series. They are good changes IMO. The old RE formula is dated, and people like you need to open your eyes and start accepting that fact.

Actually I've gotten over the RE series years ago. I'm currently in the phase right now of sitting back popcorn in hand and watching Capcom ruin themselves. It's pretty fun in fact. They just don't have a clue.

Good for you man. Everyone says this same line all the time and it means nothing.

I'm not sure where you got this ridiculous notion that gamers hate everything these days but just stop because it's stupid. I play games to. Just not, generic ones.

Crossel777

Everywhere I look on the internet, it's nonsensical, pointless comments when deep down they probably enjoy the game. It's the popular trend these days to, instead of praise a game for it's good points, berate developers and criticise a game based on noticable differences. If Resident Evil never changed, I can assure you the same level of b!tching would take place, the same way people b!tch about Nintendo's games being "exactly the same", or Call of Duty, etc.

Nice opinion brah. Clearly you've lost sight of what RE games where all about and joined this generations cloned generic gamers(aka teh massses). Enjoy your next CoD experience.

Yes, OPINION. Key word there, I dunno why you are scrutinising over how I feel about Resident Evil just because it differs to your OPINION.

Describing an action style game as 'CoD experience' is ignorant, and flat out stupid.

Just because I enjoy the action-based RE games as much as the survival horror RE games, does not mean I am some sort of 'cloned generic gamer'.

FPS is the least popular genre in my game library.

I'm not blaming your opinion because it differs to mine. I'm blaming developers for not catering to my opinion at all. Just because I seek variety in different gameplay experiences and don't enjoy CoD. My opinion is obviously too bothersome for Capcom to cater to. Basically a crap load of gamers out there are just flatout ignored and there are hardly other options out there.

It's mostly the truth. Developers are looking at Call of Duty for inspiration to their next game. Capcom even said it themselves.

I'd still play it.siLVURcross

Same here.

I won't enjoy it, but as a fan I'm curious as to where the story is heading and want to play the Chris parts more.

I'll need a better example than that because as far as I know Nintendo fans don't whine about Nintendo's games being the same all the time, in fact they love it more than anything because they're constantly being catered for with the games they like. I think I speak of behalf of most sheep on here and the internets. Nintendo do change their games up from time to time but it's the kind of change that improves on past gameplay not the kind of change that rapes a game of all it's features to a point where it's completely different. That is Resident Evil 6.

The only time I've heard nintendo fans complain about one of their games is Metroid: Other M which of course plays nothing like a Metroid game and more like Ninja Gaiden, Metroid fans didn't want that in the slightest. Other than that Nintendo games consistantly get high scores pretty much everywhere and are praised constantly.
