Why would they drop the price with no incentive to buy their console. By this time PS3 would have 3 exclusives and that just is'nt enough to warrent a price drop on Sonys behalf because those games are'nt  gauranteed to sell systems since their unproven IPs:P

Why would they drop the price with no incentive to buy their console. By this time PS3 would have 3 exclusives and that just is'nt enough to warrent a price drop on Sonys behalf because those games are'nt gauranteed to sell systems since their unproven IPs:P

Hate to break it to you, but for many playstation gamers Heavenly Sword, Final Fantasy XIII, MGS4, and even GTA IV though it's not exclusive are enough incentives to by a ps3. And as I have been saying for months, the 360's been out for over a year and the only game I want on it I can get on a ps3 (Oblivion, and its better than on a 360). The ps3 will have been out for less than a year and it is slated to have at least five games I want. So, why buy something I'm not necessarily gonna use when I know I'll use my ps3.

It would only make sense if they would bundle the PS3 with the new Singstar and two microphones. Or at Christmas bundled with Little Big Planet.

isnt the ps3 getting rid of the BC this summer and the smaller Cell chip from IBM which will cut costs around 100-200$ ? i am not sure but if that happens then a price drop is possible in the near future maybe september since many games will be coming out and Home.

Maybe you didn't read the previous quote?  He said the only game on the 360 that interested him (and I tried not to list multiplats on the PS3, even though thats the only one he picked) was Oblivion.

And I do have a PC, a pretty decent gaming one, but certain games i MUCH prefer to play on a console and it much more sociable.

but Sony has the PS2 as a leverage, the profit from PS2 can fuel a price reduction on the PS3 if necessary. 360 and Wii do not have this leverage. DoctorWan

ms has windows and nintendo has ds lite. besides i think there both making a profit on the console.

Well I am a big PS2 fan but I do own a 360 and even with a price cut I still wouldnt be interested. Not really interested in lair no matter how good it looks just isnt my type of game. As for HS I dont know about that game and I am not going to buy a system with only a few games that I am interested; isnt worth it in my opinion even with a possible price cut.

Well i ment PC for C&C, Battle for Middle Earth, GRAW, Hitman and Oblivion. From your list I would say Dead Rising, Gears, Guitar Hero II (if you don't own it on PS2 already), Viva Pinata, Kameo and Mass Effect are some good reasons for the X360.

Hate to break it to you but HS & Lair are unproven, not surefire games to sell systems. I also was refering to them droping the price in the summer, not the fall when most of those games you listed will be released. You only having interest in those 360 games is like I said, YOUR INTEREST, not everyone elses, everyone does'nt think like you. And why would a consumer buy GTA4 for $600 when they can play it for $300 cheaper if all they want to do is play GTA4. Proof that everyone does'nt feel the way you feel about owning only 1 game on 360. Its much higher now BTW.

With 1 billion dollars in losses, something that took out ALL of sony's profits and gave them a $630 million loss for the WHOLE company, how could sony possibly do anything to the price but raise it?

The console does not cost them 200 per.  When the PS3 launched ram prices were at an all time high across the board.  Blue Diodes are also much cheaper now.  Supply/Demand anyone?  They have reworked the GS/EE towards a move to less hardware more software in all territories which equals $$$ savings.  The original yeilds of CELL were horrible.  They are in full production now and making a move to 65nm will result in further cost savings.  Doom and gloom be gone.

I will actually crystal ball and say that VF5 is given a bigger than 0.1 penalty for its later release.  For a game to come out 1 year later with less supposed features to only get a 0.1 difference in score just shows you what the actual better game was.
