Well i just came across a literal gem that suits me to the ground on Sunday night (im not an avid PC games player) but i decided to look through the steam store while i was redownloading CS:S to my new laptop and decided to try out DEFCONand its demo after 1 match i was hooked and literally still even today kicking myself in the head how i never ever came across this gem sooner. Its so simplistic it reeks of fun and a strategy is deeper than one might think couple of times today when i was supposed to do college work i was sittign with DEFCON on in the background pummeling away at the computer xD.

Anyway post your underappreciated games you think should get even more recoqnition that they deserve.

The most underappreciated game I ever played was World in Conflict. But it wasn't from the critics, the critics were putting that game head-to-head against CoD4 for 2007's Game of The Year. It didn't get as much attention from PC Gamers and I honestly don't know why. It's such a great game and has godly community/clan support that only a dev who truly loves PC gaming would come up with. Sadly, the amount of people who play it aren't very high in numbers.

Urban Chaos Riot Response, quality PS2/Xbox FPS from the guys who made Batman: AA, severly underappreciated, I've never come across somebody else who has played it.

For me it's EASILY Dynasty Tactics 2 for PS2. I'm a TBStrategy freak & I place it right along FFT, Disgaea & FM3. If you haven't played & see it for sale.......

BUY IT

echochrome. For some reason this game just does it for me, I'm sure its not the same for others. Its pretty mind bending at times, the music is soothing and although the visuals may hurt some eyes, I enjoy them. Very simple black & white and the guy from the back pain commercial .

I was going to pick Flower as well but I know a lot of people hate that game or just don't ge it at all. It is, imo, one of the most beautiful games of all time.

I always wanted to play Freespace 2...Dungeon Keeper 1 was the best one - 2 lost it's appeal to me when they dropped those awesome 2D sprites in favor of those 40 polygon abysmal 3D models.

It should have easily got a 9, but I suppose I can deal with a 8.5...if only it didn't have such a crappy multiplayer. Yeah, it actually had a few scenes that shocked me! Plus, the last level was gaming heaven...just ripping through enemies like they are nothing and then getting sweet revenge. :)

It was kind of a love it or pass type game. Quite a bit of 9s as far as reviews, but there were a lot of 7s and below as well. At the time it was released it was one of my favorite games. Especially in the early days of the PS3 when there was very little to play.

I remember when they reviewed that game. I read the OXM review. It looked pretty cool, but it came along at a time when everyone's attention had kinda shifted to next gen consoles.

I can think of a whole load of games that fly under the radar. Here is just one of them- Escape Velocity: Nova.

This is only one of the three games in the series (the most recently released), but it's got multiple storylines with multiple endings, and you don't even have to get involved if you don't want! The universe is yours to do with it what you will. Awesome stuff, and great editing tools included, too.

Look at the size of this map!! And the friendly/unfriendly zones change depending on who you form alliances with, etc. I could sing this game's praises all day. :P

Shadowrun (still my favorite multiplayer fps) and Tenchu Z (best game in one of my favorite series.) I love them both. Both are extremely unpopular. I think people that didn't like them must not have known how to play them correctly or something, because I adored them so very much.

For me, it's gotta be Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure. It's an awesome DS game that fared pretty well with critics too. And just check out the music for the game (free for download in the first link)! Last time I saw it on store shelves it was $10 at Walmart too, so if you don't have it, come on, get it! :D

rjxtian

Fear2 on the 360 for me. Most reviews said the gameplay, story, and visuals were better in the first one, I disagree on all of those. Especially the story. It blows my mind how people could think the story in the first one was better when it was told so poorly that even the fear wiki was conflicted as to what actually happened in the first game.

Alright, we're going to stretch way back in time for a few of these:

1) Little Nemo (NES[I've forgotten the full title of the game, but it's based on the children's animated feature film. Great game.])

2) Legend of Legaia (PS). Not a perfect game by any means and took a lot of time for battles, but the battle system was fantastic and the animations + style was infectious. Definitely one of PS's best RPGs.

3) SSX Tricky (PS2). Awesome game, the pinnacle of the franchise.

4) Mirror's Edge (PS3/360). Great visuals and innovative gameplay, definitely worth the $20 I plopped down for it.

5) Marble Blast Ultra (360arcade). Still baffled it scored so poorly on GS, loved the online play and would love a sequel.

I'll have to second and third the choices of Earth Defense Force 2017 and Folklore, but I have another one.

Valkyria Chronicles. For everyone singing this game's praise, has it even moved 1 million units yet? I sure as heck hope so.

Company of Heroes It got the praise. Fantastic praise actually, with a 93 on Metacritic and a 9 here. But it never received the credit it deserves. Like Relic's previous games, it advanced the genre forward and yet still fails to be recognized.

I'm actually mad that Dynasty Tactics 2 can't get any props. No one else played it, therefore I can't get DT3!!!

I don't think I've ever even met another person that's played it before.

What a shame

Tekken 6...yea it got some good reviews but to all the people who condemned because if its campaign is real foolish. Yea the Campaign mode seemed a little tacked on but all the other offline features makes it real fun. Plus if your in a bad mood let your anger out in it and I guarantee you'll feel better haha.

Failed to be recognized by who? It is widely regarded as the best modern RTS game on the PC by almost all pc gamers. Pretty sure it saw a significant boost of sales last year as well with all the specials Steam and D2D had on the game... (and by modern i mean the last 10 years)

I don't know if anyone remembers Summoner on PS2 but I loved that game.
