Good or Bad, what do you think will happen?
MY PREDICTION -
Assuming that the Wii has really sold 6.5 million units within its first 5 months on the market, its impossible to ignore. Most developers were caught off guard by the demand of the Wii as they were still on negative terms with the GC when E3 2006 rolled around. When the Wii turned into the "dont miss this attraction" (Check out the Wii_Waiting_Line) at E3, developers took a double take at what nintendo was doing.
Incoming ports!! From the good like Trauma Center and Madden, to the bad.... every other port, developers scrambled, and still are scrambling, to make some money off of the Wii. When it usually takes a good year to complete a game, developers found themselves with a mere 6 - 8 months. Ubisoft was the first, saying that they would have 7 launch games... only two of them were not ports and those 2 sold the best.
Fueled by 1st party titles like Zelda and WarioWare, and some 3rd party titles like SSX, Sonic, and Tiger Woods, the Wii has managed to sell through 6.5 million. Now, ports can not last forever, for the PS2 can not last forever. The Wii demands exclusive content, and with how fast it is selling... developers are almost forced into giving it. 1st party titles will fuel the Wii for the rest of the Wii, that is for sure. But, when the Wii passes the 360 in sales by 2008, all of the exclusive content will show up!
We can see a fair amount right now, but they are a while off. Resident Evil UC, Final Fantasy CC2, Dragon Quest Swords, Manhunt 2, No More Heroes, Nights, and many more on the way this year! The Wii is going to have an outstanding fall! By this time next year, the Wii will be on a continuous landslide!
I predict that the Wii will be unstoppable, from non-gamer, to gamer, from child to grandparent... the Wii will attract all and has potential to outsell the PS2 in total sales.
What do you think?
