imo, this game is aiming for a HUGE upset... check out the requirements.

MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Microsoft® Windows® XP (Service Pack 2)/Microsoft® Windows® 2000 SP4
  • Intel Pentium 4 2 Ghz/AMD XP 2200+
  • 512 MB RAM
  • 10 GB available hard drive space
  • 128 MB DirectX® 9c compatible card/ nVIDIA® GeForce™ 5700/ATI Radeon® 9600
  • DirectX® 9 compatible sound card
  • LAN/ Internet connection with Cable/DSL speeds for multiplayer
  • Keyboard, Mouse.

RECOMMENDED SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Intel Core 2 Duo E6400/AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
  • 1 GB RAM or better
  • 256 MB DirectX® 9c compatible card/ nVIDIA® GeForce™ 7900/ ATI Radeon® X1850.

now; with that being said, it's important to note that not even Oblivion had set it's recommended GPU to a 7900; and Oblivion is a huge, vastly open-ended game that looks twice as good as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. visually. of course, Oblivion had it's recommended GPU to a 6800 or higher, but we all know that wouldn't run the game at maximum, so i'm hoping that the requirements for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. are the exact specifications to run it at maximum. not normal. but two 4200's? c'mon... the game doesn't look like it needs that much power...

aside from that, the game will be using 'text' as a form of communication between NPC's, now we all know this hurt LOZ:TP's score significantly, so this might also hinder S.T.A.L.K.E.R. from getting that high AA score or low AAA score. but who knows.. maybe the game has something completely new and mindblowing to bring to the FPS genre... but i doubt it, that type of game only comes around once in every generation. :S

so by the looks of it, i'm guessing this game will get a high A or low AA score, IMO.

It could be that the high requirements might be for AI and the world that you will be immersed in.  Graphics aren't the only thing that require power.

You compare this game to Oblivion, but Oblivion's development was probably hampered by the limitations of the Xbox 360 and therefore the overall PC requirements were low.  Also Oblivion came out a little while ago.

STALKER appears to have high requirements.  There has been a pretty good debate going on in the PC Forum regarding the way Gamespot takes points off of PC games that have high requirements.  They did this to Supreme Commander.  Hopefully they won't with STALKER.  I'd rather have games that push forward instead of stick to the past IMHO.

not really.

Oblivion's terrain is much more detailed, although S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s player models look a tad better.

Thats pretty low reqs. Who doesnt have a card with at least 128 vram and 8+ pipelines? For the rec emended, a 120$ card could run it.

Probabaly a 8.5/10. Itll be a great game, but because of delays, and it doesnt look incredible like alot of other pc games, it might score a little lower. Other then that, i cant wait for it.

This is actually the first PC game I've been excited over since Half Life 2. I think it should get mid AA to AAA but not lower.

Isn't S.T.A.L.K.E.R. supposed to have killer AI? That would require a badass processor. The recommended specs are monster though.

Honestly? High AA or AAA. The high requirements is a drag though.

The BETA for STALKER runs nice and smooth on non-high end machines. It should be fine.

Cool, nice to see that you can pick one of the worst pics of STALKER. I can do that with Oblivion to you know...

Just from the MP i would give it a 9 at least. In all honesty I think the MP is better than CS. So if the SP end up being good which it sounds insane. Then this game will have not choice but to a get an 8.5 or higher.

i would guess a 9.0. The graphics arent the best, but i really like the washed out style of them. I hope the single player is free roam, scavenger type they talked about in the previews. If they pull it off its gonna be nice. The guns look weird though, and some of the iron sights on em look kinda weird. Ive been dying to play new fps that isnt just move to cover, shoot some targets, and move again.

they are not high requirments that min system is from like 2002-03 and dual core cou and 7900s are cheap now, omly recomending 1gb isn't very high. your xbox 1 can't run geow so why would you expect a card from the same time to run stalker?

I would guess at 7.5ish. PC games don't tend to get rated high on GS. If the spec requirements are high they will lock loads of points off. In my opinion if devs try to make great games that put any strain on highend PC hardware then they take to many points off.

Yeah thats total crap a game should never lose points for high requirements. If they do it like that the should take off points from all PS3 games because its the most expensive console

Well it has been said to be riddled with bugs. Yes I know it's not finished but a preview I read said that most games at that stage have fixed most of them. I'm saying 7.8-8.1.
