What does the consumer in question care? Obviously they're uninformed, non-gaming people we're talking about here. They don't know what they're looking for or what they want. Unlike most people here, they don't have any favorite franchises or even favorite genres. In the end, they'll be happy with whatever they get. Or maybe it'll turn them off from games forever; who really cares.
I go to gamespot a lot and many differnet ones. When ever I have heard a employee compare the two to a customer. The PS3 always wins. I even seen when someone came in to buy a 360 and the rmployee changed his mind to buy a PS3.

Wow, that's the first time I've ever heard that. Not saying you're lying.
employee's of gamestores like gamestop usually tell people to buy an 360 and not a ps3 due to the much larger libary of games. wheneveran empoyeementions the blueray player the ps3 has built in; the reaction is always the "bluewaht?" reaction..sony should needs to be doing is advertise blueray in tv ad's and imform people that they are connected to it. gamestores arent going to tell people to buy a console with fewer games..only for them to come back complaining afew days later and demand their money back.

I have always thought it funny. Because I seen it happen so offten, I have always wondered if they make something from Sony.
It's funny you mention this... when I purchased my PS3 at a local gamestop... they asked me: 'why?' ....
When I asked about the availability of Warhawk... and if it indeed came with the headset.... they told me: 'you must pre-order the game in order to get the head set'.
When you see the 3 kiosks (for PS3, Wii, and 360)... the 360 display is in the center of the store... and ps3 and wii are shoved in the corner... and for some reason the lastest game is playing on the 360... while the ps3 and wii is usually off...
As for me I will never shop at that gamestop ever again...
In my opinion an educated purchaser would definately go with the 360. What "educated" reason would you have for buyin the PS3? Unless your a videofile and in love with blue-ray, I see no reason to buy a PS3.
Serious gamers go where the games are. Also, I've never been a big fan of mixing movie media with my game systems. I own an xbox360 for gameing. I went out and bought a standalone HDDVD player for watching movies. You can get them in the $200-$250 range nowadays. Just as many studios now support HDDVD as blueray andHDDVD is cheaper. Will be watching Transformers this weekend!!!
I actually think the opposite is happening in stores. Uneducated store workers who don't own either system and don't know anything about the technologies are telling people PS3 and blue-ray are superior, when that simply isn't true.

I bought the PS3 for Final Fantasy XIII and Metal Gear Solid 4. I bought it because it had the games I wanted. That's reason enough.
Blu-ray was just a bonus.
You want to talk about where serious gamers go? That would be the PC.

you bought it for 2 games that aren't out yet and won't be out for several months? unless you really wanted BC I don't see the point in paying early and paying more.
Well in the risk of being modded again which will obviously happen.
I don't think what companies do is right, doesnt make any sense to me but it does happen.
For instance one of my local eb games has a tone of used ps3 due to people like myself who really didnt enjoy the system.
So instead of saying we have a new ps3 in stock they always try and get people to buy used at a retarded price, hardly anyone will buy used and then they say but we have some new 360's in stock.
Then today I discovered a new ad in bestbuy.ca which is canadian site for best buy and they have 80gb version of system for 499 right now. Even though I dislike the system and what it has to offer I tried to help people get the best bang for their buck.
The mods lock the god damn topic.
So it seems quite evident that what people say is true about this site being pro xbox.
NO matter how crazy you go over this whole system war thing I really think we should all as a community help the next guy out buy getting the best bang for their buck.
I honestly bought my PS3 for BC...
hear me out....
1) i remembered when the PS2 launched... i waited 1+ years after it was launched until I started seeing a steady flow of games I liked. (so this wait thing is nothing new to me...)
2) My PS2 ate it... so I need a new PS2 (I own waaay to many ps1 and ps2 titles to not own a ps2 again)... and PS3 shows up
3) folks cry about the price... let's see this is how i did my math: at the time ps2 cost ($120), blu-ray player cost ($1000 cheapest), any next gen system would be at least ($400) price of x-box, so i'm makin' out like a bandit...
So there you go... I get BC, a next gen console, and a next gen format player all in one bundle... psst btw I play more ps2 games than ps3 games on my ps3... so technically my ps3 has a bigger library than all the other consoles out there...

When those games come out, if they are both AAA, ifthe price of the PS3 is down to $200 and if blue-ray wins the format war, I might consider buying a PS3. Even then though, the 360 is more than enough to keep me busy. I work fora living, am married, and have a new baby. I don't really have time for more than one console so 360 seemed like the easy choice. I don't think I'd be happy right now if I had picked PS3.
I suppose if I didn't have any system yet, the price of the PS3 comes down, and they release several AAA titles, maybe my evalutation would turn out differently, but thats a lot of ifs and I didn't want to wait to start next gen gaming.
When I went to buy my ps3 last year the employee's at GS said don't get it get the 360. I already had a 360 on day one but they were dead set against the ps3 saying there was no games and it cost too much. I just laughed and said who's money is buying the ps3 yours or mine ??
They still would not shut up claiming I was wasting my money lol. Playing the devil's advocate I said the 360 has hardware problems and they said that it was blown way out proportion (mine had died once already). They claimed nobody from that store had a problem lol. I said well the 360 backward compatibility sucks and the ps3 will play all my old ps2 games. They said that bc was over rated and that I could buy a old xbox for 99 bucks wtf ??
After that I told them I had a 360 and that they should stfu and get was I asked them for in the 1st place. I have no doubt many people trying to buy a ps3 got the same speech I did and fell for it.
maybe at gaming stores the employees arer gamers and will recomend a console with the best games? Just a thought.
The other is that cows are rampantly paranoid and see conspiracy, betrayalsand enemies everywhere. :P
whats funny is now cows are saying BC is overrated and you can buy a PS2 for less than $100!When I went to buy my ps3 last year the employee's at GS said don't get it get the 360. I think his point was that you don't have to be an ignorant moron to buy a PS3. It offers a few games now and a bunch more down the road. I'm a PC gamer and I researched a lot about the PS3 and chose simply because it offered the most games that I thought looked enjoyable and couldn't play a year later on my PC. That and I believe that it is the most powerful console, but at this point that isn't set in stone. I'm not saying the 360 is bad or that you should have bought a PS3; I'm just saying you don't have to be an idiot to buy a playstation 3, and there are plenty of good, but subjective reasons to do so.

As a pc gamer I know that BC is a great feature I love it and I love that sony made it so I could throw my old ps2 in the trash and still play my old games. I feel I have enough old systems from the snes on up taking up alot of space add in the fact that your old games look better and it's a huge plus for me. Personally I am happy with my 60 gig cause even my old ff7 works on it and that is fantastic.
I am a old school console gamer and any cables with systemsI can get rid of are great for me.
How things change...or not! When i bought the Gamecube the store guy pretty much mocked me, and then told me the ps2 was better because it did more than 150million polylons! (not a typo)
I was gonna explain the numbers were only polys pushed witout textures, lighting etc, but decided it would be wasted on the moron.
Of course he wasnt trying to make me buy a ps2 just because the shop sold dvd's as well....
Cows will find any reason to tty to rationalize why no wants a PS3. Could it possibly be the fact that 360 has a bigger better library with more quality exclusives? Face it, there are 360 budget titles that are better then new PS3 releases.maybe at gaming stores the employees arer gamers and will recomend a console with the best games? Just a thought.

Ok, it definately wasn't my intent to call any one a moron. The only reason I used the word "educated" in my response was because the OTC implied that educated consumers who researched the forums would choose a PS3. My opinion is that is false. I wasn't tryint to attack PS3 owners.
If your a hardcore PC gamer I can understand the 360 is a little less appealing. That is one of the wierdest things about system wars. Some people include the PC and some do not. If you do not want to PC game, I think 360 is aneasy choice. If you do a lot of gaming on the PC I will admit PS3 and 360 get a little closer. I would still argue 360 but it is definately a more difficult choice.
I used to PC game quite a bit, but being a programmer by trade the last thing I want to do when I get home from a long day at workis sit in front of a PC. I also have nodesire to mess with my computer (upgrades, drivers, patches, etc.). I will still occasionally buy a strategy PC game (CIV IV for example), but for the most part I stick with consoles now.
I never have that at GAME. In fact the ps3 wins. the exclusives look amazing, it does blue ray, it dosent break down. Ask an employee they always say the ps3 wins. hands down. NinjaMunkey01Wins at what? That makes no sense. What exclusives currently on Game shelves look amazing??
