[QUOTE="ithilgore2006"][QUOTE="saolin323"] [QUOTE="ironcreed"]Well, that just sucks, lol. Congrats, Hermits, as this game looks like it is going to be truly awesome when they get done with it. Is used to be on my 360 wanted list, but I guess I can scratch that off.saolin323
The game is for 360 too, that has not changed, the TC thinks it has, but this is far from reality
BTW the game will play fine on 360, on PC though, you betetr NOT have an AMD CPU, i amsure Intel will do anything to sabotage the game on those
How do you know it will still be on the Xbox 360?
How do i know ??? It is officially ANNOUNCED for 360-PC, that is how i know
... actually they worded it carefully. They said they PLANNED on releasing on PC and 360. They had previously shown the PC version so that was obvious but nothing was there to support the idea that they had even done much on the 360 version. You don't honestly believe that a 20 person team could afford to spend that much time porting it to the 360 do you? Cause if you do you are kidding yourself. They have since removed their FAQ and considering that they only had the supposed "360 Version Confirmed" up for 6 months.... well.... I doubt they got enough done for it to matter. Because they do plan on porting and selling their engine on all platforms. They probably got some of the porting the engine to the 360 done but until then, they couldn't have started work on any 360 version of the game. And considering the engine is constantly changing because they are adding hundreds of new effects.... porting is going to be a constant catch-up job.
Not only that but with Intel now owning Offset Software, they will likely make it PC exclusive. Intel gains nothing from it going to consoles outside of the game sales, which aren't even remotely approaching what they will make on hardware sales. They will probably be using it to push hardware HARD. Offset has been touted as having hundreds of AI's onscreen with AI and animation, and everything a typical character has. Infact, Epic borrowed that tech and put it into their Unreal Engine 3. The self shadowing you see in all these games now.... That was directly borrowed from Offset. Now, Offset has done its fair share of borrowing from other games too. Ambient Occlusion was taken directly from Crytek's CryENGINE 2(Epic also took that). And I am sure there are other effects.
It is likely that Intel will push Offset Software to REALLY hit the hardware hard. The AI will probably be beefed up on the hundred enemy scenes, animation will probably be pushed harder. Intel will probably try to make this a game that pushes their octo-core hardware if you turn everything up to the max, but dual core and quad core will probably be able to match it in terms of graphical fidelity just not CPU processes.
Think about how much money Intel makes per piece of hardware sold. CPU's aren't cheap to make but they certainly don't cost $200 to make(they probably don't even cost $150). The sales on gaming CPU's are profit heavy and selling 10,000 CPU's makes Intel $1 million richer. Now, with a game that pushes hardware, sales probably jump 30,000-70,000 for the dream-rig level hardware, and other high end stuff may jump 400,000-1,000,000 and Intel makes ludicrous amounts of profit.
And I would bet that Project Offset won't be getting that much of a marketing push. Look at all the big 360 games. They have ALL had a significant marketing push. ALL of them. Sales for Project Offset on consoles MAY make it to a million but that is HUGE maybe. Take out retail profits, distribution costs, and all the other costs typical of selling a game, and the profit slumps down. A million sold would make it success but it would likely dampen the CPU's sales some, making them make less profit.
edit - and as for the supposed publisher... well... they never revealed them and for all we know, Intel could have purchased publishing rights. Some contracts don't protect against buyouts, and for all we know this could be one. Also, Intel has all the motivation in the world to slip whoever the publisher is(if it isn't Intel) some money and keep it PC only. And who is to say that Intel doesn't bully the publisher into doing what they want. Intel has more money and more influence than any single publisher in the industry, so they DO have the power to make whoever the publisher may be do whatever they(Intel) want them(publisher) to do.
