This is at 1280x1024, no AA, 16x AF, all high except shadows at medium and physics at very high. The only tweak I use is "r_UseEdgeAA=2" which adds "fake" AA to everything (especially vegetation) without any FPS loss. Those screens were taken in windowed mode (so some edges are cut off) because for some reason when Crysis is in fullscreen and I take a screenshot and paste it in paint, only a black screen comes up. But there is no difference in FPS for me between windowed or fullscreen. In heavy gun fights, FPS drops to 21-27 which is pretty good for Crysis and hard to notice.

My specs: 8800GT oced, X2 6000+ (equivalent to a E6600) and 2gigs of DDR2 800Mhz RAM.

8800GT- $260

X2 6000- $190

Asus M2NBP-VM CSM (mobo)- $90

2gig DDR2 800Mhz RAM- $110

My 8800GT has been running Crysis very well too, its a great card. People need to learn that their almighty hardware can't max all games, and turn down some settings.

May not be max but look at those screens! Better then any other game out there. And the physics are better then any other game also.

My friend runs it similarly, except with 8800gtx stock.

He gets around 60fps.................................... when you're about 50 feet below the surface of the water :P

Hell yeah, it still looks better than any other game, the multiplayer looks better than any other game, it is just that because people saw settings that they couldn't turn on, they some how got mad. BTW screw power struggle, instant action FTW, it is always a blast.

I think the physics are really overrated, to be honest. Breaking trees and shacks is the level of destructability you get. The shacks are sort of scripted with certain break points within each one, and the trees get old. The physics don't have realistic materials. Most objects bounce around in the game or move, unrealistically.

30+ is usually recommended for FPS games but for some reasons crysis feels fine at 25ish, maybe it's because of the nice use of motion blur.

Crysis is pretty slow-paced in comparison to games like UT3 so lower framerates feel pretty acceptable in-game

Well, I never said they were perfect (far from it), but what other game do you think has better physics? And shacks aren't scripted. Every piece of metal of the shack is breakable and so you can break it however you want.

I can't shoot a piece of scrap metal on a shack right down the metal, nor can I do so to the wood panels. They're all little pieces constructed together with break points. If I punch the side of a shack, its always just going to fly off or fall off as one piece( assuming I'm hitting a flat side). Never will it break in two

I would also like to add that I believe Crytek is able to make the physic more realistic but they retric the physics so that more PCs are able to run it.

That looks good, but not incredible.

Uncharted running at 1080p or AC running at 1080p looks much better though. And yes, they do run in 1080p. If your TV is native 1920x1080p, then all HD signals are upconverted.

Half Life 2 is also kinda like that but it had much less breaking points, and it was also considered to have the best physics of its time.

for its realistic movements. throw a barrel and it will move expectedly. Shook a soldier and he just doesn't generically fly back with no ragdoll.

I wonder if I can play this game well at medium settings with my 6800XT (256 MB overclocked) at 1024 x 768 (I have a CRT 17' monitor), I bet I can. I have 1GB RAM.

Bet it looks great as well.

Uh huh....cool, that works i guess.

Kind of a cheap way to say "i can run crysis on max for $650!"

Not everyone is gonna have all the right parts for upgrading, and many people don't even like doing that. Many people will want to build a new rig instead. That's the thing, it will easily cost 1.2k+ then.

Well, I'm sure you have a DVD drive, windows, harddrive, case, fans and PSU (if you don't have a good PSU, you can get one for cheap) no? And high isn't max btw.

May not be max but look at those screens! Better then any other game out there. And the physics are better then any other game also.

Not trying to start an argument here or anything, but I believe the Force Unleashed has a much better physics engine.

That looks good, but not incredible.

Uncharted running at 1080p or AC running at 1080p looks much better though. And yes, they do run in 1080p. If your TV is native 1920x1080p, then all HD signals are upconverted.

Vorserider2

Don't forget he's not playing with it on max settings - he has it all on High (highest is Very High, although it can be tweaked to Ultra High in the configs).

The simple truth is, a game this kiddy though won't appear to hardcores.wiretoss

What are you talking about?

PowerSupply? Case? DVD-Rom? HardDrive? Sound Card? Speakers? Mouse? Keyboard?.... don't need to count price of speakers if they came attached to ur Monitor, but I seriously doubt they did.

Sorry Hermit, but nice try, well not really....

I've never once played a game on my PC without a Power Supply, Case, Dvd-Rom/Cd-Rom, HardDrive, Mouse, Keyboard, Sound Card or Speakers.... have you???

My specs: 8800GT oced, X2 6000+ (equivalent to a E6600) and 2gigs of DDR2 800Mhz RAM.

8800GT- $260

X2 6000- $190

Asus M2NBP-VM CSM (mobo)- $90

2gig DDR2 800Mhz RAM- $110

DarkRecruit

So you just put those 4 components together and it plays Crysis? No PSU? No HD? No cooling solution? No case?

Your thread title is very misleading.

Read my other post:

It's called upgrading. That's how much it cost for me, since I already had the other stuff.

I had a powersupply, case, DVD drive, harddrive, soundcard, speakers, mouse, windows and keyboard already. Don't you?

It's the same as when you talk about buying consoles. $300 xbox huh? What you gonna play it on? No tv? No seocnd controller? No xbox live subscription?

It's called an upgrade. And it's not a $650 game box. If the Tc could make one change to the topic, he should emphasize that it's a COMPUTER. not a game box. A COMPUTER. It does more than play crysis

I think the physics are really overrated, to be honest. Breaking trees and shacks is the level of destructability you get. The shacks are sort of scripted with certain break points within each one, and the trees get old. The physics don't have realistic materials. Most objects bounce around in the game or move, unrealistically.

Well, I never said they were perfect (far from it), but what other game do you think has better physics? And shacks aren't scripted. Every piece of metal of the shack is breakable and so you can break it however you want.

there are definitely bugs with shacks though, esp ones with support beams, you can knock out all but one sometimes and the shack still stands :P it's good, but not perfect obviously

lol he still spent $650 to play a single game that looks nowhere near what it did when they first showed it and can't even maintain 30FPS, A SINGLE GAME!!

Dude, Crysis isn't the last PC game to exist. More are coming.

And the game can look just as good, even better, than what they showed during development by activating Ultra High among other thingsin the config files. But do that and you'll experience a very low FPS - which is why Crytek cut it out. It's not their fault, the technology just isn't here yet.

I don't see how it's bad at all. Can you elaborate on this? Please, if you're going to make large statements like these at least bring some reasonable arguements to support it.

I ran those games and they are not graphically better than Crysis in anyway. You can't compare through this guys pictures alone. Nothing at the moment looks better than Crysis. Not to mention how much smaller the environments are in the games you have mentioned.
