DVD 9 is fine so long as you only keep one audio track for the game, but if you wanna say keep a Japanese audio track as well an American audio track thats when space becomes an issue. The devs at Sega compained about it for Shenmui and Yakuza when they were forced to dump the original Japanese audio to accomadate for the new English language track when localizing the games for State side release. Especiall long voice driven games like RPGs DVD9 just can't hold a second audio track for the entire game. This was an issue with Final Fantasy games that had to dump Japanese Audio for American Dubbing. So I think the article is talking about data storage rather than RAM seeing as they mention Voice Over and Dialogue as a big factor in storage. pimperjones
Now why would I want Japanese audio, if I buy the game in North America where most people here speak English? gnutux

Because English dialogue for Japanese games usually sucks monkey butt.

Some of us don't like to play Japanese Mafia games where the Japanese Thugs speak fluent English. Nor do we wanna play games set in Japan starring Japanese people who some how manage to speak perfect English. I cringed when I played Shenmui and Yakuza.

Devs are so scared of using 2 DVDs. Like at gears couldn't they put the SP on 1 and the MP on the other even if they didn't fill each completely.

muliple disks is always a bad idea if it can be avoided. I remember back PS1 when I had to change disks back and forth in RPGs when I backtracked. It's just something we can all live without.

honestly the PS1 games I have played with multiple disks, I don't ever remeber having to put a lower numbered disk back in to back track?? Metal Gear Solid, FFVII and VIII, Chrono Cross, I don't remember having to do that

Yes, multiple discs is a bad idea, but not a CRIPPLING idea. If your biggest complaint about a game is that you have to change discs, then that's a damn good game.

And we care, why?

Mass Effect will be godly, regardless.

Well I'm willing to pay an extra 200 to avoid changing disks and I also like the idea that my Japanese games will for once in the history of gaming remain Japanese. The idea of playing Final Fantasy in Japanese audio is just beyond words.

Well, since Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon will both have Japanese and English audio tracks, if the only benefit to me is to avoid changing discs once every ten or twenty hours of gameplay or so, then I'm not much up for paying that $200. (That said, I still plan on getting a PS3, because...well....the idea of playing Final Fantasy is beyond words, regardless of whether it's in English OR Japanese. :D)

The main question people should be asking is... who cares?  The number of discs doesn't matter, only the game.  I don't care if there's 92 discs if the game is good.
