proof that halo 3's story is one of fps's best

so many played the game, and so many fanboys didnt. the ones that did play the game, only 10% of them played the single player enough or paid enough attention to the story line, wich is actually deeper than most people think. AKA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccQGf55rhMs ,

I thought Halo had an OK story but nothing to be praised about. To be honest I thought FEAR had a way better story to go along with the action.

Halo 3 did have a story but was not told very well. I also hate it when fan boys say "read the books for the story." i never liked Halo's story or even Halo in general so why should I go read a book I have no care for....

Halo is weak storywise, but Halo:CE is one of my all time favorite console FPSes. I dunno why people like Halo2 and Halo3 so much, they are nothing compared to the utter perfection that was Halo:CE. That game was magical, and rightfully deserves to stand next to Golden Eye and Perfect Dark :DII_Seraphim_II

How does being able to sum up the story of a many hour campaign in 1/2 an hour prove that it has a great story?

Great Expectations, now that's a great story. Or even better, The Lord of the Rings is a great story. Notice that it took Tolkien Three large books to tell the whole thing and Peter Jackson made three long movies and still had to cut out more than half of the material to tell it.

Not that a good story has to be long. Take the "Tell Tale Heart" which deals with the pressure one man has to face after murder.

Or we could go more Sci-Fi. Star-ship Troopers (not the movie) is a pretty short book but an awesome story dealing with government structure and what it means to be a space marine (major influence for Halo). However his hero isn't always calm, cool, and collect. He deals with major struggles and succeeds despite them. At the end of the book he is still scared of a most fundamental aspect of his job despite having worked up to leading a platoon and being a lieutenant. Point is that great stories not only tell about major events, but the both the internal and external struggles of the main characters. In every case the main character is a person not just a faceless hero accomplishing a task.

While I won't go so far as to say Halo 3 has a lame story, I will say that it has an upward battle to create a story that resonates with people and makes them walk away going, WOW!
