The "big deal" is that despite this the 360 and Wii are continually outselling it.Cali3350
But the 360 has been out for a year and has its first Killer App, and the Wii is marketed really well and is generally really cool in many ways.
Like we said, the PS3 is actually selling better than the 360 did in the same time frame since launch. Therefore, it's hardly failing. If it gets a killer app like Lair or HS or (heaven forbid) KZ2, it may be catapulted beside or near the Xbox 360.
It's definitely not out of the running yet.
It's that they promised so much, and so far have delivered very little. Plain and simple, there is less value in it than the hundred dollar cheaper console, and maybe the 350 dollar cheaper one as well. whoisryanmack
If they can dupe the public long enough to get their ducks in a row, it might turn out alright.
It's all might, though. "Might" is the key word. And given Sony's recent PR performance, do any of us really think that they can pull it off?

I expect the games to save it's credibility somewhat. The PS3 CPU strength is bound to produce something impressive eventually. Sony will never get back the cred they lost on hardware hype (it might be good, but not "4d" good) with the hardcore fans imo. We'll see.
I'll be getting a new 42" LCD monitor (1080p of course) and a PS3 soon.MantiCore2K8Of course because you can really notice 1080P on a 42'' display.

What cred? Sony hasn't had hardware cred since the PS2 launch. Honestly, hype is a permeated part of the advertising business. You aren't supposed to believe what someone tells you what their product can do, but you just want to get caught up in the excitement and buy it anyway. Except Sony promised Mars when they should have just promised the Moon.

When your price reflects your claim, the claim better be true. Thats it. There is no reason to own a PS3 if it isnt better than a 360. As of now, it isnt close.
As for Sony hardware hype, I didn't mean to imply Sony was on some type of pedestal already. I mean the attitude toward PS3 will never be quite the same as it could have been...for hardcores anyhow. The disparity between was what supposed to be and what is is large. Not to mention constant disappointments to this point regardless of sales numbers.
Soon as the PS3 gets a price drop and FF13, im picking me up one.
Most people seem to feel the same way, so it's only a matter of time tell the PS3 picks up it's sale's big time.

I feel exactly the same way, i would not get one now, that is 1000% sure
The big deal is there's a lot of dumber people who buy the Wii instead. casey7672
dumber people? If i am a dumber person then so be it cause i am in good company. The numbers are against you.
"and it has done better then the PS1 and 2 in the same amount of time during there lunches"
I didn't know videogame systems ate lunch.
According to a feature in GameInFormer (the june issue) called "game informer answers the big questions".The PS3 has sold more systems in 3 month's then xbox 360 and it has done better then the PS1 and 2 in the same amount of time during there lunches. So what's with all the negativity? According to GameInFormer "The media are plain stupid" .mj53916
you mean during the time that the ps1 and ps2 were only released in japan? shady statistics huh? ;)

How the hell can anyone say Sony is doing fine? Sure they aren't failing but this is bad people.
