Not only is it silly to compare the two as they provide completely different services (cloud streaming vs physical downloads), but PS Now can be used be anyone with a PS4 or a PC. Also keep in mind PS Now is double the price of Game Pass ($10 for GP vs $20 for PS Now) and you can see why there's such a discrepancy.

If we account for the price difference between GP and PS Now we could hypothesize that GP becoming $20 like PS Now would double its revenue share. This puts its much closer in line with PS Now, which still wouldn't have a huge lead considering it has roughly 40m more PlayStation units and the entire PC market as a customer base. Game Pass is doing just fine all things considered.

Hey man, you asked a question and I answered it.

Your original question doesn't extend to what people like or whatever, it was about the service and why BC would be an option. I answered that for you and your response seems to gloss over the original question.

Why would Sony offer BC?

Simple because

1. the competitor is doing it

2. it's an option where many people will still end up buying old games for the new systems that they don't currently have and do not desire to play through a service.

3. it will help retain current PS4 owners stay in the playstation ecosystem.

Liking or not liking the service really isn't the question, it's a question of options, the only thing MS did over Sony this gen was BC.

Same.....I spent so many hours on it and it was the first game I ALWAYS loaded up when I upgraded my PC to see how it performed.

otherwise i have criticize too many FPS and too many PC games that play by may casual PC gamers.

i have always criticize COD and BF games.

for PC games, i have criticize PUBG, Dota 2, CSGO that sell 50 million and yet are terrible games. every platform has casuals yet only these are praise by mainstream media mostly. PC is no different than console when it comes to promoting bad games.

For example, PS Now also offers downloads now (and I fail to see what that has to do with the revenue discrepancy, unless the user is unwittingly arguing that streaming is more marketable - which would seem to go against their pro-GP narrative). Moreover, PSNow is not 20 vs 10 - its EIGHT dollars per month normally, and currently on sale for 6.67.

In other words, their argument is based largely on misinformation

Anyway, a couple things are true. PS4 has about double the customer base than X1 and GP is fairly new on the market. Me thinks next year may tell a different story. We shall see but there's no doubt about what's offered, GP getting day one launch games and not streamed as well is head and shoulders above what PS Now offers. IMO of course.

I seriously doubt Sony will release Ghosts of T, LOU2 or Kojima's game in 2019 otherwise they would be at E3 and not a NO SHOW.

And the gameplay footage they showed for Ghosts and Last of Us 2 looked frankly, really Effin Good! Like Next Gen good! I could see all 3 either cross gen or PS5 launch exclusive titles, which would be a mammoth way to kick off next gen that MS would have a hard time competing against.

I'm sorry, rumors are saying that the PS5 is coming out on 2020. There is no way Sony would wait to release its 3 biggest titles at the end of the consoles lifecycle. At least 2 of them will release next year with a last one to say goodbye to the ps4.

Uninformed so asking. Does PSNow have recent PS4 games? I can't think of anything on PS4 that I really want to play (which is why I don't have a PS4), but I could probably spend a few hours in Spider-Man and Bloodborne for $8.

that doesn't mean PSNow is *better* than GamePass.

Wow this is what i was telling those who actually think sony can't compete with MS in streaming,look at this sony has more than half of the market between all services.

"Free". Xbox owners still have to own the games which hardly anyone will own 500 games to play on BC. With PSNow you are renting the games so you don't have to own them and are provided to you. So either way, Xbox BC is limited to not all titles and you have to own them while PSNow doesn't need to port the PS3 titles to the PS4 and you don't need to own them.

Bolded above... I pointed that out and many of us do have our old OG Xbox and 360 games so Free for all of us. Now to really bake your noodle, all the 360 games offered each month via GWG are Free BC as well with Free MonsterBox enhancements to boot. :O

@Fuhrer_D: I think it's not reliably new - no Spiderman yet, as far as I'm aware. But games like Bloodborne and Until Dawn are on there. I'm not the best person to ask because I've only demo'd the service; I prefer to "own" my games (to the extent one can claim that with digital titles these days).

Well the games offered on PSN Plus are usually also working on PS4 PS3 and Vita so actually PS4 users usually get like double the games Live users get so repeat with me: Thank you Sony :)

You'd have a point if PS4 played the PS3 and Vita games but it doesn't. Plus the fact Xbox gets BC enhanced as well.
