I estimate that the Vita sold 1 million units in the US alone and 2 million everywhere else week 1... what i just said is just as reliable as VG chartz... and all i did was make up random numbers

After my own extensive research, I find the Vita install base to date at 1,399,999.

Watch me beat VGChartz's prediction.

The commercials are working, pandering to the same demographic. It will be funny to see how long it takes for them to be exchanged once nothing comes out.

Nonsense. Real sales trackers either provide numbers regularly (Media Create, Famitsu) or have commercial reason not to.

NPD charges US$10,000 per monthly report to its customers.

Gfk-ChartTrack similarly have no reason to publically disclose information they sell to customers.

lolchartz is not a real tracker. And there are no other sites making (false) claims to knowledge of sales numbers.

VGchartz always greatly underestimates or overestimates numbers...I'm hoping it's underestimating. The only way I'd be shocked is if this was spot on.

Made a few calls to a few big games stores around Australia, The system seems to be doing pretty well here. our EB games and JBHIFI stores in the cities are all selling out of Vita stocks and the different stores had 50-80 in stock each.

World wide. Not just N.A. and Europe. I heard it also was launched in other PAL regions like Australia, don't know if it launched in the U.K or South AmericA yet. The total will need to be divided up more. Also the headlines 1.4m should say "after successful global launch window" since its been a month already in Japan.

If you're asking how one knows that false information is not better than no information - it's a truism.

If you're asking why chartzzzz is known to be made up numbers, that's relatively well known.

Even though I'd bet you're just trolling, the number would still be 1.4 million because selling a system doesn't change the overall number of units in gamers' hands...only whose hands have changed.

Don't you mean the 600k it has already sold in Japan counts in that 1.4m? So wouldn't that be 800k outside of Japan?

Even if it sold 2 million in US alone on February 22nd it would be good but you have to remember it will sell well its launch week regardless The Nintendo 3DS sold 3.6 million units in it's "launch window" but went on to sell 700k the next four months. I'd wait to see how bad the PS Vita does in NPD in March, April, May, June before we start declaring anything. Reacting to good sales during a launch is silly, of course all launches are good coz of early adopters and low volume of units at stores.

Again, did not answer my question. How do you know for a fact that vgchartz has made up these numbers? Do you have clear, undeniable proof? Probably not, but I would like to see your evidence either way.

Btw, using obscure words does not help your dialetic at all.

I'm not trying to say these numbers are right or wrong but VGChartz is known to be wrong, by very wide margins both plus and minus a lot. They don't get paid to put these numbers out (I don't think so) so they really have need to be credible per say since no one is paying them. That's the idea. Anyone can claim they are right or wrong but neither will be right until NPD comes out next month.

Easyle

I didn't use any obscure words. :/

They have made up numbers in the past, e.g. Metal Gear Solid 4 launch numbers LINK

They have no access to higher level retailer point of sale data - that is how trackers like NPD, Gfk-ChartTrack, Media Create and Famitsu make extrapolations of the total market.

In any given month, they are wildly off from real tracker data, that their numbers are little more than guesses.

Take December. They overguessed the 360 by 1 million units, the Wii by 700,000 units and the PS3 by 250,000 units.

It's bullsh*t in table form. And I feel dirty for giving their horrible site a hit to retrieve it.
