3DS is the leading selling console this gen with the top selling games. It rektd the whole fuckin industry even though parents were afraid of the 3D effects which hurt it a bunch.

Vita was a disaster. Even the Wii U sold better than it. Vita and its software sold so poorly that Sony pulled support like 3 years ago.

The Vita has good hardware but no games. The 3DS has good games but crappy hardware. Games are more important so 3DS wins.

I'm not talking sales alone, we know the 3DS edged Vita, i'm talking overall quality of the hardware and the games.

Overall? 3DS it even has the New 3DS which is basically like a Pro from the PS4 Vanilla.

It's more about games, sales, profit market share buuuuut I gotta give it to sony for the mini 3D sticks, gorgeous VITA 1000, PSN (way back to PSP), ease of screenshots from day 1 and other media stuff and I LOVED Freedom Wars.

VITA also had the PSV+PSTV thing which gave some a speck of an insight for the Switch. Then again there was the PSP Go with the BT DS+Dock+TV Out+USB.

At the end of the day; 3DS family for the world.

objectively, 3DS easily, but I'll give the moral victory to Vita for this one, despite much lower sales it still amazes me the level of support the thing still gets from Japanese developers, and here I thought Nintendo would have the Switch in the bag since I figured most Japanese devs would instantly hop on it considering Sony has no plans for a future handheld, but they've yet to show that they have yet, and they still keep making things for the Vita, sure it doesn't sell but devs are committed to keep making games for it anyways, people are still buying games for it in Japan most likely so damn, didn't sell a huge amount of Vitas but it still refuses to throw in the towel, that's admirable

Ummm....the 3DS curb stomped the Vita. This is coming from a devout Vita fan. I left my 3DS packed away after I moved. The games don't appeal to me and looking at the screen feels like razor blades are cutting my eyeballs. I will more than likely never touch my 3DS again. I think it has ran its course.

The Vita is such a waste of a great piece of hardware. DS/3DS might just have the greatest library of games of any system of all time.

The vita has many games. So why I don't own one? many of of them are just ports of PS2/ PS3/ PS4 games, or some that eventually ported to PS4 (Gravity Rush).

The vita is great system for someone don't have time to play at home. But for me? nah. It is mostly "port to handheld" system, to the point the few exsulive games don't worth it.

But the Vita had soooo much potential. The hardware was great, and still is TBH. It has some great games, but I think Sony really should have pushed for more mobile friendly games instead of console ports. Sony also should have made it compatible with SD CARDS!!!!!! Owning digital games on the Vita is awesome, but those stupid Sony memory cards are crazy expensive.

There isn't a doubt that 3DS won by a landslide. If you factor the DS games it can play, 3DS arguably has the best console library period.

However, the 3DS console itself is shit. It's heavy and awkward and it's really uncomfortable to play lying down.

As for the Vita, it's mostly the Persona 4: Golden machine. Yes it has indies but those come out in almost every system. Still, as most owners of a Vita, I still love it. It's just feels so good to hold and to play on. It's one of that rare failures that will nonetheless be remembered fondly.

Well in sale it is obvious the 3DS won but I had and still have a lot more fun with my Vita. It has so much love from Japan.

i have a big soft spot for the vita though. it was (until the switch release anyway) the best way to play games on a mobile device. the hardware was amazing at launch and, despite being quite old in the mobile world now, it can still put out some impressive visuals. build quality (on the original model anyway...i havent tried the new one) was awesome. controls were lovely. screen was very nice.

i also have a fairly nice collection of games for it (and i i get along with persona 5 then there will be one last hurrah for the old handheld too). so its earned it crust for me. my 3DS and vital collection are very close in size.

i just wish it was the nintendo vita (and its why im excited for the switches future). a device like the vita with the 3DSs game selection...yes please. its such a shame sony just dropped it like a stone.

The PS Vita TV 'thing' wasn't really anything like the Switch, besides the whole playing games part of course.

I mean are we talking about from a sales perspective or just in general? From a sales perspective, Nintendo's handheld dominated. The PS Vita is a great handheld, definitely more powerful, but I think the 3DS wins- more options, more games etc.

Yeah the more games thing is obvious but that really goes down to the player's preference. The 3DS gets tons of support from Nintendo but I personally enjoy the Japanese games on the Vita much more. Most jrpg's on the 3DS feel like they're stuck in the stone age from the DS days compared the Vita's.

I guess what I dislike about 3DS' games are the general portable-approach to them. They're built to be played on the go but they feel so casual to me. For Vita's games, they give you the genuine console experience on the go for better or worse. By which I mean performance and loading times.

Yeah, as a 3DS and Vita owner - Vita was better hardware for sure, not even close really. But it's games library got passed up and lapped by 3DS. Can't really blame Sony too much, as nothing sold well on that system even when they developed some really great games for it early on. There just wasn't room for two handhelds on store shelves this gen. It's sales were so poor, it's miraculous that it actually got solid indie and niche support for as long as it has.. In my case, I only played about 10 or so games on each system. So I still see Vita as superior. But if I was someone that was looking to play like 50 handheld games, no doubt the 3DS has a deeper and better library to explore without having to delve into indie games.

And Vita's specs and controls put it a step above any other handheld.

Hardware wise these handhelds delivered a lot. They just didn't have as many appealing games as previous gen handhelds had.

I don't even think psvita has much standout games. Maybe a handful Goty worthy titles(counting 7 or 8)

One of the most disappointing PlayStation Devices. It's even more frustrating that it's technically the best handheld ever made(not counting switch for obvious reasons)
