Should I sell my Vita for the new 3DS XL, I'm finding it hard to get some good new games on the Vita...and the last good one I played weeks a ago was Arkham Origins.
Yes you should. PS Vita is an amazing machine but no games is no games. Just make sure to play the standout titles first. There are about half a dozen Vita exclusives that are worth a go and about twice as many indie games if you wanna play them on the Vita.
The 3ds with its combined 3ds and DS library is one of the best consoles ever game-wise. Just make sure to get the New 3DS. It has a bit better hardware and better 3d.
I agree with above. The sheer amount of games you can play on the 3ds is staggering. And the ds/3ds have a decent amount of remakes and remasters. So you can technically play a lot of older stuff on them too. Plus the stuff on the virtual store.
Do it.
Vita will one day be worth billions and be remembered as the most advanced hardware in a handheld with no games by everybody.
Couldn't agree more
The original vita (not that new cheap slim one they made) is gonna be like one of those lost relics 1000's of years from now
People are going to find a vita with persona 5 in it and say "omg this is the meaning of life."
It's going to be whats it called a CULT thing years from now like the big lebowski or something. The internet will never forget the vita buy one now so you can see it go up in price mark my words it'll be worth crap tons down the line.
I often wonder if Sony never came out with the PSP GO and just called Vita the PSP 2 if they would have been more successful in the U.S. i feel the brand took a hit the name vita just sounded dumb the name hurt it and nobody knew what it could do i had to show my friends all the stuff it can do.
Get the 3DS and keep the Vita. Have you thought that maybe mobile gaming may not suit you? I am thinking the same way that you are. Only the Vita is the one that I would use the most in this case. I am fortunate enough to have both, but if I had to choose the 3DS would be sold before the Vita. Regardless do what you think is best. Make a pros and cons list of the systems and look at their respective libraries. Once you see it laid out in front of you can then make a logical decision.
Are you talking about the New 3ds xl? Cause if you don't really care, then maybe look into the 2ds and keep the vita.
I just got a vita a few weeks ago, and I'm loving it, so I would hate to see someone get rid of a good handheld.
If you can handle the inferior hardware, I'd say get it. I sold my 3DS cause the screen quality is absolute sh*t. The game library is infinitely better though.
Id say do it. Vita isnt even sold in retail stores no more. Sony has completely abandoned its fans as they refuse to even make a game for it.
If you want to play games then you should. Vita was dead on arrival. Great piece of hardware but it never had much software support.
The Vita is good upgrade from the PSP, it great for PS4 remote play. The 3DS is the superior handheld though. The Wii U should have included a 3DS cart slot to run those games on TV from the Wii U. Sucks Nintendo has to replace the 3DS and Wii U now with the NX. Instead they should have just put a 3DS reader on the Wii U and sold the combo system for 200.
Sadly the Vita outside of Japan, is dead, while it still releases games, they are not mentioned at all unless you actually look for it. Luckily for me, I have understanding with Japanese language, so I have no problems with importing games for it from Japan, which the quantity it has easily rivals the 3DS games or even more than that.
As for the 3DS, I would recommend you on getting the New 3DS XL, the pros on this is that it has a much faster loading time than the regular 3DS, built in NFS reader if you have any amiibos or amiibo cards for it, and of course some N3DS exclusive games like Xenoblade. The only downside is that it does not come with an AC adapter, so you will have to get that separately.
@pug987: Thanks! Wonder why the Vita just died .....
Because Sony is no more "for the gamers" than any other corporation. They abandoned Vita and the consumers that supported it.
I suggest that you keep the vita and continue supporting our Sony.
LMAO yeah because Sony sure is supporting us Vita buyers

It is. Until you play all that interests you. Then the reality that Sony dropped support for it hits you. I kept mine because of my library of PSP games and the few Vita games I have.
It didn't have enough consumer support and neither did the Wii U. People want one device per company. Both PlayStation and Nintendo figured this out, Drop support for the Vita and go hard on the PS4. Drop support for the Wii U and go hard at the 3DS while preparing to replace both Wii U and 3DS at one swing. Most homes don't want multiple systems and they don't want multiple systems from the same company. Those days are over. That's why we keep seeing these "What are gonna do now?" Threads.
The Scorpio is coming What are you gonna do now?
The NEO is coming What are you gonna do now?
The NX is coming What are you gonna do now?

One System to rule them all. One System to find them. One System to bring them all and in the darkness BIND THEM

Yeah that was the biggest issue from what people said about the vita. I mean I just got it so I'm thinking "WOW! There's a lot of games!", but I'm really liking the JRPG genre, so I feel that I won't get bored for awhile.
After the crap storm of PSV, it's the last handheld I buy. Uncharted GA, Gravity Rush and maybe a couple others that have since gone or already were multiplat were the only good games. I haven't bought a game for it since the end of 2013. Biggest waste of tech I've ever seen.
Anyone who says 3DS has more games in Vita is bs'ing you. Vita has many more games than the 3DS, and also you can play PSP and PS1 games as well. BUT, the 3DS wins hands down when it comes to quality exclusives.
@Sweetbackhair: What good JRPGs can you play on the Vita? I wouldn't mind dusting the old thing off. Obviously I have played Persona 4 Golden. What else is there?
They aren't turned based rpgs but I really like the Ys series. They have them on the store for the PSP version of the game, but there is a Ys game for the Vita as well.
The series can be tough, but it's a great challenge to play.
"No games"
Doesn't the Vita have over 1,000 games?
its mostly trash indies that run like crap, and PSP ports, its actual exclusives are around 5-10 games and none of them were big hitters or killer apps.
I use it to play all my PSP games, i predict the NEO is gonna be like the psp vita ill play my ps4 games on the neo and just be happy with the hardware and not the games.

I have some serious trouble believing any of this, especially coming from the likes of you.

As a Day one Vita owner and user I can safely say the system can't even hook up to PC to record gameplay. Its one of the worst system for exclusive games ive ever owned and i only blame sony since they didn't lock down any games or deals for the system but made me pay a very high premium with very lofty promise and the sony brand behind the product.
It's basically a FF4 CC / FFT WoTL / MM MHX machine for me it does have a really nice screen for my PSP games but I won't be following sony into there next hand held endeavor after being treated like this.

I would check out Muramasa Rebirth. Its another good one.

This doesn't validate anything you said, or me questioning what you said in any capacity.
@dynamitecop: What part a lot of the vita games got bad reviews for running games poorly? I don't like indies, I play AAA handheld games or AAA console games ported to the console so that locks me out of a ton of vita games.
I don't like walking dead tell tale games so again even more games I don't want to get on vita.
I Loved god of war PSP metal gear solid PSP and final fantasy crisis core PSP and the FF fighting games on PSP.
The vita didn't have anything like that it was all a lie they sold me on promises and the trust they built up with the PSP I thought i was getting my next god of war my next metal gear my new FF7 sequel a kingdomhearts.
LITERALLY NOTHING dynamite NOTHING CAME! 3DS KEEPS GETTING A TON OF HITS!!
Vita is a love it or hate it device. It really depends on what games you are into. Mine is starting to feel irrelevant. If I didn't also have a ps4 I would have more games for it. As of now, I had to get God eater and one piece burning blood because it looks and runs better on the console. Later this year, I will get attack on Titan, sword art, world of final fantasy, and dragon quest builders all for ps4.
I'm typing on an iPad so sorry about the grammar, (I'm lazy right now :P)
