Just got the email today. Although I'm going to get this, I'm going to hold off for now. The ship date is so far out there's no reason to rush, plus the only package I've seen so far includes the PS Camera and Move controllers, both of which I already have.

Let's see how VR will last on a console but for PC VR, it will last longer.

I'm hoping the rumours that Sony are working on an upgraded PS4 for VR are true, I preorder PSVR and am a little concerned about the PS4 not having enough power to deliver an awesome VR experience

The only viable option at the moment is the HTC Vive all the others are inferior products being held back by one thing or another.

I was considering getting Oculus Rift next year when storm has settle but after looking into HTC Vive, I'm leaning toward HTC Vive, and only because of Valve's name being behind it. We shall see how those 2 preform well.

Wait to see what happens with StarVR, It's made by StarBreeze Studios, the guys who made Escape from Butcher Bay, Assault on Dark Athena etc. It's going to no doubt be the biggest deal in VR when it launches. Their headset has a 210 degree FoV, that's 100 higher than anything else and a 5K total output with two 2560x1440 panels.

Technologically this thing is going to be a monster, the Vive and RIft are toys compared to this.

@dynamitecop: Mighty impressive StarVR but like I said, I'm just waiting to see how this all turns out and I got plenty of time for VR next year.

Having the best tech specs is not what makes a product win at the end if the hardware behind it can't support it well (like the PS4 VR).

And the hardware to drive two 2560x1440 panels at 90fps constantly is just not there yet.

There is a reason that both the Rift and Vive sport the same specs.

Maybe in the 2nd or 3rd iteration there will be a resolution bump but right now it's just not there even when considering Pascal and Polaris.

Currently the Vive has it right with decent hardware and support.

Valve has made sure that there will be plenty of support going towards the Vive by giving out free kits to developers and pushing for full support in many game engines like Unity and Unreal 4.

VR is such an exciting technology. Maybe just behind hover cars and time machines.

StarVR is obviously not done, it's not ready yet, and the market is not ready for it yet, it will come out when it's ready obviously.

You might have missed this little tidbit too, these guys are beyond committed to all of this and they're in a good position.

"By committing to be a fully integrated party supporting the Steam OpenVR framework within its proprietary game and entertainment industry engine Valhalla, Starbreeze aspires to become one of the first VR publishers parallel to being the go-to catalyst for publishing titles on the Steam platform."

110 is enough for now. You notice the boundaries on the edges when you first put on a Vive or Rift but you quickly forget about it.

When computer hardware catches up then we can worry about increasing FoV and resolution.

This. I feel that if you are going to invest in the VR experience you would want to choose the best VR devices available for the budget. Sure this is an entry level product and Sony admitted other VR devices are way better, but if they are working on a PS4K new console for about the same price of the old outdated regular PS4, I would wait on the PS4K to get the very best PSVR experience. And who knows, they might even update the almost 10 year old Move controller and also outdated PlayStation Kinect to improve the VR experience to the highest level. Hopefully E3 will reveal new and updated products.

I've said that about VR all along. If I had my way, they wouldn't make it at all.

At the very least, even if it's not all that viable for the VR, I might still be interested in the headset simply as a display to create a more immersive in your face experience.

Well, apparently it costs an arm, leg and all your grandchildren to afford it in my place of residence, Canada. So naw, I probably won't be getting it for a long ass time.
