PS2 continues to out sell Xbox 360 and PS3 next Gen is all hype!!

people here are all talking about how Xbox 360 is out selling PS3 and hyping that PS3 is dead??? hahahaha this is amusing at the least and funny most of the time as PS2 continues to sell thousands more each month in THE US no less and many more in Japan and EU.

LOOK at the first year of PS2 world wide it is nearly dubble that of Xbox 360!! PS3 is selling just as bad as Xbox 360 as PS3 is a year behind!! now with the price drops sales will pick up and with more games additial people will look at PS3. Many like myself will wait for a price of $399 or a huge list of games and more abilities for the PS3 then jump in.

Also again the PS2 has soooooo many titles that most people are getting all their games. I have 2 Xboxes and PS2s, and friends come over and we play Halo, Jack X, Timespliters FP... all the time and it compets with NG shooters to me in FUN!!

It will take till the end of next year to see who will break out and compete with Nintendo which is selling like PS2 did. And by then we should have some real NG games I hope that play different than Last gen games.

But for now those fanboys saying Xbox 360 or PS3 is going to win or is selling more is just sad as neither are selling greatly, and neither has games that are different from last year's games!!

i just thought...if more people are buying the ps2, it's crazy install base is growing and growing. Isn't that in the long run more negative for the wii and 360.

i myself am struggling to understand why its still selling like it does....

If i had to guess i'd say these VERY late adopters or oldies seeking a new functioning system are probably thinking "i'll play on the ps2 now. its got loads of games" and i'll geta ps3 when it's cheaper. Think about it the ps2 has been cheap for a loooooooooooooooong time.In that loong space of time that theps2 has been cheap these userscould've of most definitelygonewii60, or bought the seperate systems.

the 360 is selling ok, but not as much as it should be selling given the amount of "AAA's" it has. Microsoft missed their projected sales by 400 k or something. they've got halo 3, bioshock(not sure how well this one will do commercially tbh) and mass effect for this year. But in order for them to keep their lead they needsome equally as strong titles coming out next year. i've yet to see evidence of this.

Sony on the other hand are doin well considering the price and lack juggernauts like gears. Those crippling issues are gonenext year whether lemmings and sheep like to believe it or not.

with SNES I coud do things I could do things that were not possible with sega master system. And with 3D things changed a lot. whole new worlds opened up from with lots more data and memory for bigger worlds, though realy ugly, though with Xbox that was fixed and games changed. What has changed from last gen??? more of the same. and other than the HC fanboy no one is really excited. Only the Nintendo Wii has changed things and that is why it is selling well. I am waiting for cange in both PS3 and Xbox 360. But it looks like a long wait.

Third, Price range has nothing to do with it!! just becasue it cost less does not mean it will only attract a different group of people. it is what you can do with it. The games are not as good as Next gen games YES but they play the same just dont' look as good!! but to me Halo, Jack and Dax, RE4,... look good enough, and play great!!

I think the TC has some good points. There's still a huge part of the market in PS2 owners that's still waiting. And if they though EITHER console was offering something good enough at a price they liked, they would have switched. But its obvious that they're waiting so see what 2008 brings.

Recent Ps2 buyers are unlikely to get any other console in the close future, so it thurts all other consoles sales. Budget buyers are unlikely to get into ps3 or 360 until they are under $200 and are much more likely to go to the Wii camp, which is low-cost oriented from day one.

I still play my PS2 and if it were to die tomorrow...I'd go right to the store and replace it with one of those new tiny units (mine is a launch). The PS2 is the greatest console in the history of gaming. No other console has offered the same massive, diverse and wide-ranging game library and possibly never will. NO other console has provided the same level of awe and amazement when popping in never-before-seen games like SH2, Tony Hawk, SSX, GTA3, ICO or God of War. The list could go on for days.

It's no surprise that the console still tops the charts (sort of). Right now you can walk into a store, get the console for cheap, and have a massive library of dirt cheap but amazing games to chose from. As much as I am looking forward to this new gen, I would be genuinely shocked if any console comes close to offering what the PS2 did.

PS2 sales only prove how overpriced the x360 and PS3 are right now, especially the PS3.

Neither console will truly take off until they hit the impulse-buy range of$200 and below. Problem for the PS3 is just how long it will take to get to that range......and the falling price of blu-ray players.

I second that. But I also do think the impulse range for the PS3 will be higher than $200 simply because of the BR factor. However, it doesn't help game sales if people are jumping on the PS3 purely to play movies.

I can see it being over $200, but not drastically more. I think $250 might be the "sweet spot" for both consoles.

The challenge for the PS3 will be getting to that price before the x360 takes up too much marketshare.

with the price hopefuly by next year the componets will be less exp and easier to make thus droping the price by 100-150 for each console.

As for games I hope they find a way to do something different. Camera, voice interaction, voice synthisis, AI, AL, collision detaction, 360 movement, abilities of different body parts (climb tree, sword fight... W/O a button to do action) There are a lot of things that can be improved on but that is not enough, It must be improved on untill it becomes NEW or so different that it is new in its implamentation.

that is what I am waiting on. And untill then PS2 and Xbox are good enough. Just wish there were more Xbox games like PS2 :^(

The people supporting the PS2 are either cheap, don't have an HDTV, or are just unaware of how in the dust the PS2 is when you compare upcoming games. People still buy the GBA too, and is there any excuse for this? For $50 more, you can own a DS Lite that plays all the GBA games plus the DS games. Does that mean people should be buying a GBA? No. But again, if you'd rather go buy some Greatest Hits games than something like Mass Effect or MGS4, go for it. You're the one missing out, not the people who were willing to drop the cash for these two systems.

This one's simple to figure out. When or if the next gen consoles slip under $200, you will see their sales figures take off. Almost all consoles in the history of history have sold for under $200 and most people aren't willing to pay much more than that.

PS3 has out sold the 360 for 1 month now and possible 2. and yet the PS2 still out sells both. But Sony claims to be a two system company.

Use common sense.

PS2 = $129.99
360 = $349.99
PS3= $499.99

and ps2 has arguably the best backlog collection of games ever. (and the gamesare cheap as hell now also)

given the amount of time it has been cheap many many many many many of the gamers who went out and bought a ps2 could have definitely saved up and bought a 360, not to think of a wii -Me being one of these gamers

why would a gamer buy a ps2 if the 360 had soooooooooo many "AAA's" and such great online(i know you didnt say this but i'm just sayin').

If you're arguing that they're notbuying a 360 because it's tooo expensive, surely these great advantages the 360 has should have swayed consumers?a guy i know has a 360 but is still buying a ps3 later on for mgs4.
