PHATS hardware architeture shipped changed lots of time:

1)90nm cell 60GB and 20GB (LAUNCH) 2007

2)90nm cell 80gb MOTORSTOM 4usb /memory stick reader/ ps2 BC (2007) (EMOTION ENGINE DROPED)

3)65nm cell MGS4 4usb /memory stick reader/ ps2 BC (2008)

4)65nm cell 40gb/80gb/160GB 2 usb (2008-2009)

5)45nm SLIM (2009-2010)

If you have a PHAT is working, please POST date of purchase, hard drive size, number of usbs, and if was bundled.

already updated the OP, so you know this is not official study, nor do I think is scientific, but it can help you+me understand how many and who isn't (and is) getting affected with this problem.

What is this Judgement day for the PS3 or something?

Mine's a 2 usb 80gig fat PS3 and it doesn't work, I'm affaid I might have lost RE:5, Bayonetta and GH:Metallica data though :( should have consulted the internets first before trying to play them.
