Link note: this isn't what it will look like (thank god) "It's no surprise to hear that Sony's already working on the next gen PS3, but rumor has it that the new PS3 will have a dramatically different design from its current incarnation, shedding loads of that initial baby fat for a nice svelte profile." I welcome the idea of a slim PS3, the system already looks a-okay to me. Just like the new 360, I'll probably end up buying the new PS3. Hotness overload.

If this is true i'll hold out until a smaller one comes out because this massive powerbrick and my 360 are killing me. I dropped the powerbrick on my foot by accident today.. pain lots of pain.

Considering the new 360 we'll be seeing after March will have a 120 GB hard drive the new PS3 better have a freaking huge hard drive.

well, if Sony removed all the un-nesessary multi media crap from the PS3 they could probably get it down to the size of a walnut.

Well, I'm not a genius but I'm going to assume it's for downloadable content and for saving games. Don't quote me on that though, it might be for making pasta.

Nothing wrong with that, I never regretted purchasing my old PS2 when the slim line came out.  I hope the new one is as 'stylistic' as the current one; and hopefully the price is lower.

Well I think they'll do what MS will probably end up doing with the new 360. Make the Premium the new core with a bigger hard drive and HDMI, and the new slim PS3 will be the new Premium PS3 probably with a bigger hard drive and, perhaps, rumble.

A slim PS3 would burn the carpet, wood or steel where it's standing, your finger and your brain the second you turned it on. That's how much it'd heat up.

It's only good for the people who haven't bought it yet. Like the PS3 is getting a new look, I hate the PS3 look now, so this can be a good thing. The 360 won't get a new design, it might just get a bigger HDD (which is all good, XBL keeps track of your paid DL's), now the HDMI deal would be a different story, unless if they can make an adapter for it somehow........

Why the hell don't they work on trying to make it cheaper instead of making it look different? I'm confused. Making it look different won't distract people from it's huge price tag. Good job Sony. You really know what the consumer wants. :|

For the ones that have bought it that is. And the PS3 is pretty bulky right now. I was thinking of waiting for something newer to come out for it. I just want a cosmetic change, like how I was with a DS. As for the 360 having a new HDD, I can just buy the new HDD if I need it :? And I can just use a mem card to transfer my saves, and reDL, my stuff on XBL. And playing IPTV will be possible of the current 360. HDMI, meh, I plan to leave that spot for the PS3, and I don't think I want buy a HDMI selector or keep on switching b/w them.

Nothing new, it was excpected. They did it with Ps1 and PS2 so yeah I don't think there will be big changes excpect size and maybe a bonus or whatsoever.

Well the Slim PS2 did include ethernet and dial-up out of the box in 2004, but sometime in 2005 they dropped the dial-up. I got a phat PS2 that still has the Firewire and no IR. The network adapter is worth a lot of money these days. Glad I got one.

Slim Playstation 3 will certainly drop the memory card features of the 60GB version, that's for sure. And of course, external power...

Sony always makes a slim version a few years in the consoles lifetime, and by the looks of the rumor then it will be released probable in 2009. And I am even guessing at the holiday season of 2009, this is no ownage of the Cows.

Will it actually play games and not be a glorified Blu-Ray player and will it have Backwards compatibility without butchering the graphics? If so that's all I care about.

As long as it doesnt have anything new than the normal PS3s have I dont give a !@#$. Its not like the 360 with a HDMI port , that sorta pisses me off. A smaller processor doesnt matter to me since mine doesnt overheat.
