PS3- $499

PS3- The system

Blu-Ray- Ability to play movies at 1080P (Only though HDMI w/ HDCP compatible TV)  Ability to use 50gig disk for games

HDMI Support- For highest quality picture/audio

Wireless Controller- Comes with USB cable

20 gig hard-drive

X360 Elite- $479

Black Xbox 360- The system

HDMI Support w/cable- Offering the best possible picture/audio

Wireless Controller- Comes with batteries

Composite+Component cables- PS3 does not offer

Headset- Also PS3 does not offer

120 gig hard-drive pre-loaded with tons of media/demos

So lets see for the PS3 to be at value to the X360 it would have to have

100gig Hard Drive- $100

HDMI Cable- $10

Component Cables- $50

Headset- $20

Final Cost to equal X360 Elite=$690 without tax/with tax no doubt $700+

The only thing that the PS3 20gig can do that the X360 Elite cannot is play movies at 1080P and use 50gig game disks.  Surley you can use common logic and conclude that the X360 Elite has much more value than the 20gig PS3.

Elite is worth the price if you dont currently have a 360. If you do then its pretty much pointless unless your dead-set on having HDMI. And another major factor are the games. 360 has a boat load of good games while currently, PS3 has about 3 good ones.

What does the 360 have to say about that? Ouch, looks like you'll be waiting 4-8 weeks for a replacement.

You add stuff to the PS3 to make it cost more? How about 360, wheres the HDDVD drive? That raises it for 680. Also. PS3 Componant Cables are $24.99 , not 50. $100 for a 100gb HD? No thank. Heres one for 65 bucks. This means the PS3 would really be 630+tax and the Elite would be 680+tax.... sooooooo YOU FAIL

You make it seem as though this happens to every single person who has a 360, when the fact of the matter is that it doesnt happen all that often. It still is a major isue though IMO.

Lets see...you forgot XBL Gold subscription ($50), wireless adapter($99), and the HD-DVD add-on($200)...all this to match up w/ the PS3 will cost you a wopping $828(not including tax) and if you dont want an HD-DVD add on you would still have to pay over $600($627.99). Have a nice day.

Why don't you add Compat flash, MSDUO and Memory Stick readers to the 360 too? How about support to any sata 2.5in hdd? Or support for any headset you may prefer/feel more comfortable with? Or a 1.3 HDMI port? Think my sugestions are stupid? So is this thread.

Too bad the 20gig version supports none of those memory inputs.  Plenty of choices for third party head-sets, 1.3 HDMI, please explain to me the great advantages over 1.2.

Sorry was looking at these cables, http://www.ebgames.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=802522

To my knowledge the PS3 does not support ATA-6 Hard-drives I could be mistaken though.  Cheapest one I could find on newegg was $109.

I wasn't comparing which one could watch the best movies if I did then I would add in the HD-DVD player I was looking at which one would be the best overall gaming experience right out of the box (I could have mentioned the huge library of games the 360 currently has to offer that is for another disscussion)

[QUOTE="lordxymor"]Why don't you add Compat flash, MSDUO and Memory Stick readers to the 360 too? How about support to any sata 2.5in hdd? Or support for any headset you may prefer/feel more comfortable with? Or a 1.3 HDMI port? Think my sugestions are stupid? So is this thread.jonymac_1220

Too bad the 20gig version supports none of those memory inputs. Plenty of choices for third party head-sets, 1.3 HDMI, please explain to me the great advantages over 1.2.

This topic is about The Elite, the best Xbox has to offer, and the 600 SKU, the best PS3 has to offer.

I believe you have mis-read the title to this topic then.

Oh sorry about that, I realized that coming back into the topic.

You can't buy the 20GB ps3. Stores don't sell them anymore.squirrel337
My main reason for this discussion is that I have a 20gig PS3 basically acting as a paperweight next to my 360. What ever ailed me to buy it... Where are the great games I was promised? Where are my "4D graphics"? C'mon Sony! *Runs to PS2 to play some good 'ol Guitar Hero*

What does the 360 have to say about that? Ouch, looks like you'll be waiting 4-8 weeks for a replacement.

lol .... ouch. That was a lil bit to harsh for the lil kids. Nice .. lol.

Seems like PS3's, Wii's, and 360's first games after launch were well, pretty crappy. Just have patience.

PS3- $499

PS3- The system

Blu-Ray- Ability to play movies at 1080P (Only though HDMI w/ HDCP compatible TV) Ability to use 50gig disk for games

HDMI Support- For highest quality picture/audio

Wireless Controller- Comes with USB cable

20 gig hard-drive

X360 Elite- $479

Black Xbox 360- The system

HDMI Support w/cable- Offering the best possible picture/audio

Wireless Controller- Comes with batteries

Composite+Component cables- PS3 does not offer

Headset- Also PS3 does not offer

120 gig hard-drive pre-loaded with tons of media/demos

So lets see for the PS3 to be at value to the X360 it would have to have

100gig Hard Drive- $100

HDMI Cable- $10

Component Cables- $50

Headset- $20

Final Cost to equal X360 Elite=$690 without tax/with tax no doubt $700+

The only thing that the PS3 20gig can do that the X360 Elite cannot is play movies at 1080P and use 50gig game disks. Surley you can use common logic and conclude that the X360 Elite has much more value than the 20gig PS3.

jonymac_1220

You add stuff to the PS3 to make it cost more? How about 360, wheres the HDDVD drive? That raises it for 680. Also. PS3 Componant Cables are $24.99 , not 50. $100 for a 100gb HD? No thank. Heres one for 65 bucks. This means the PS3 would really be 630+tax and the Elite would be 680+tax.... sooooooo YOU FAIL

Yea , sorry about the HDD :P PS3 doesnt support ATA6. Theres a SATA drive for 80 on newegg though. One question though. Why would someone need 3 pairs of cables if they want to play games?

Precisely it. You only need one set of cables. And I happened to have an HDMI cable laying around. Additionally the author of this thread forgot to add the cost of Xbox Live Gold subscription fees, which not only narrow the gap, but surpass it.

The Elite is not the best Xbox has to offer. The best Xbox has to offer cannot be bought in a single purchase. HDMI+120Gigabyte hard drive=check. $480 Rechargeable batteries=+$20 Wi Fi=$100 4 years of XBL Gold=$200 HD-DVD=$200 $1000=PWN As compared to $700 for the prime PS3 package with all of those features.

you've made some really valid points there, but u forgot to add another thing which is that the PS3 has a built in next gen drive therefore can play games and movies on a next gen format, while the xflop is still using a last gen format. So PS3 20gb > xflop180/360
