PS3 2.40 Firmware Update AKA "Let's copy Xbox hehehe"

Whoever was the genius behind the firmware update was probably the same person behind the Oblivion scenery copy. Everything they added was from "consumer feedback" or "Complaning PS3 owners that want to have all the Xbox goodies". Playing music in the backround? Ingenious! Private chat? Give this man a raise. A Clock? What were we thinking? A system that rewards the players for playing? Where would we be without you?

At the meeting discussing the update

"Sir, my son's Xbox already has all those features for quite a while now." (starts to sweat)

"...Don't tell the boss. He'll never find out. He doesn't have kids"

(Everone throws up their papers)

"Hooray!"

Yeah I had 2 $5 footlongs today. I'm not complaining about anything...I'm almost tempted to eat $5 like in the Quiznos ad just to show those Sony Fanboys how much I care that their service is free. lol

Achievements don't reward the user for playing, they waste the user's time for the sake of giving them a meaningless number that may allow them to brag to their nerd friends before they realize that their nerd friends got tired of hearing about it and left because they don't care about Gamerscore despite being nerds.

I spent like 6 hours on achievement box in TF2 (for PC) unlocking the pointless achievements because they gave me unlockable weapons. I got weapons. That's an achievement. The achievements were a waste of time. I'd rather have the weapons instead. Or my six hours back.

are you kidding me, lives network infrastructure is just if not more advanced as steams. With HD movie downloads, voice and video cha,t demos, arcade games not to mention all of those servers used to run the games.

Yeah sort of like how in Halo 3 you can unlock armor for doing the achievements. I agree that they should do more of that type of thing in games.PhilWil92

I don't need or want trophies, TBH. It will be cool to look at the prettiest ones in Home, when that ever comes out, considering it will be an actual render, as opposed to a meaningless number.

Honestly: I'd rather have all the gameplay options available on the startup menu. Unlockables are for people with a lot of time to burn. Within reason, like cheat codes, should be unlocked after a playthrough or two, but the weapons and all the other crap should be available from the outset or unlocked based on progress in a singleplayer. Multiplayer should always have balance, in every single scenario without exception. Unlockables in multiplayer are the devil.
