seems like people are more interested in 60gb ps3

Chart Track director Dorian Bloch commented, "The PS3 60GB is proving very popular, even with the introduction last week of the 40GB model. Eighty-nine percent of purchasers opted for some form of 60GB model, since this is sold with at least two games for only £50 ($102) more than the 40GB model, and sometimes other extras...check some retailer Web sites and you'll find Blu-ray discs also included for £350."

Oh well, at least the system is moving. I think it's mainly people feeling the pressure of having to hurry to make their decision before it's gone.

How does that mean the 40 GB is a failure? It's just another option for people who don't want to shell out for a 60 GB. It's great to see that a price drop caused such a spike in sales of the 60 GB. Once the 40 GB is worldwide and the irresistible games are out, it will start seriously competing with the other big boys.

One thing worth noting: everyone complaining about the 40 GB lack of backwards compatibility seems to forget that there is still an 80 GB version with all of the functionality of the old 60, plus better Bluetooth capabilities. If it's really that important to you, the option is still there, and it's not any more expensive than the 60 GB was for us early adopters.

I do think it's lame that there isn't even an emulator, but if they announce any form of B/C for the 40 via firmware (if I can play GTA and God of War on it I am set, anything else is just a bonus), I will buy a second PS3 so I can have Warhawk and Haze MP matches with my friends right beside me, lan party style.

When the "superior" version is just £50 away, then why go for the inferior one?
