Hey, I'm the guy considering selling my 360 for a PS3. Anyway, I have a question, my cousin said that he read in Stuff magazine that the 80gb PS3 loads slower than the 60gb. He said that the magazine said that when it came to loading games, the 80gb took longer.

Is there any truth to this?

Why the hell would it load slower than the 60 GB?

They release a new SKU and suddenly it's incapable of loading AS FAST when it has the same internal components (which it does)?

The same Blu Ray drive and I would assume a same-speed hard drive....but even if it DID come down to the hard drive, you could just replace the stupid thing with a laptop drive that runs twice as fast as either.

I'd say the most likely difference between the two is that the 80 GB is more likely to have a 65nm processor, which would cause your console to run cooler and more efficiently....but that assumes they've already been manufactured, which all probability causes me to assume that they are.

It's possible, but i don't know if anyone has ever tested the two versions side by side before. Each new PS3 model that comes out has somehting else stripped away or reduced it seems.

No.

The new 80 gigabytes are exactly the same as the 40 gigabytes. They just have a new hard drive.

The old 80 gigabytes were the same as the launch models just missing the EE hardware from the PS2 that allowed for PS2 hardware emulation.

The 40 gig is missing: 2 USB ports, some memorby stick port, and PS2 backwards compatibility. If it has 65 nm, in my opinion, that makes up for everything else and then some.

I highly doubt thats true, and really loading is nothing at all to be concerned with even if true.

I wouldn't know because I'm not an engineer and I don't have x-ray vision. I ventured a guess and my guess is that they do.

I never claimed they didn't.

Well anyways, Sony stated that in fall, All skus would be 65nm
