Didnt you hear? Sony invented a time-machine. They also probably ripped off the idea for the time machine from Nintendo.Quofan

4th dimension=time
this has been done in certain games before. Get to point X, in D amount of time. Or if you got somewhere quick enough, you had people come to your aid (like in star fox 64).
so blinx was the 4th dimension? And if that is so, then what is all the fuss about the 4th dimension. from the sounds of it 4-D flopped.4th dimension=time

Worst. Game. Ever.Â
In the 4th dimension, reality as we know it, ceases to exist. Our minds will implode at the thought of "existence" in the 4th dimension...
So manyc Sci-Fi writers suggest, when we die, we "ascend" into the 4th dimension...the spiritual plane of existence.
Your telling me the PS3 can help me achieve "ascension"!? Where to I sign up?
So my Q is when Sony stated that the PS3 would bring in the 4th dimension what did they mean? If the 4th dimension is " time" then what could that possibly mean with games? It just doesnt make sense to me. anyone else?ROCK303
What happened was that whoever said that either lied to you or does not know how dimensions work. This is how it works basically: When you start with the first dimension, all you have is a point, go 90 degrees from there and you have the x and y axis, in other words, now you have a width and a height. Go 90 degrees from there, and you end up with a third axis, the z axis, or what is known as volume (for example in a cube). Now, move 90 degrees out once more and you have the fourth axis, or the fourth dimension, which we cannot interpret.
Here is a much better explanation by none other than Carl Sagan himself:

Let me know when a console can do the tenth dimension.

The number of dimensions you can represent virtually is infinite. It's limited only by your imagination.
How many games we had character who could travel in time, or in peoples dreams or in alternate realities. Â

Nope not in the viewpoint presented here. 10th dimension is a far as you can go. It represents all possibilities in all alternate realities in all possible times. Watch/read it before commenting on it
They mean developers can use not only the 2 analog sticks to move in a 3D space, they can use the motion sensing as a 3rd stick to move in a theoretical 4th-dimension axis, not necessarily time but time is included. Is that so hard to understand?lordxymorAccording to wikipedia the 4th dimension is time. your wrong! And according to einsteain it's time.

It's as far as he can imagine. This 10 dimention limit exist, because he can't correlate a higher dimention with reality.
Check this out http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~sage/PDF/DerthickZimmerman.pdf, it was written by a frind of mine.
I've worked as a database administrator and business analyst. We have tools to virtually represent data in dozens of dimenstions. It's not easy to understand and generate information from data using this, but there are several OLAP tools that do it.
Botton line, in a virtual enviroment, you are not bound by reality laws and limits, only by our imagination.
And ROCK303, than Einstein is wrong, and so wikipedia(shockingly). Consider this, in a movie, that has only 2 dimentions, the width and height of the frame(1920x1080 for instance), one could say that the 3rd dimention is time(the length of the movie is measured in time units) and not the 4th.
