Now that all versions of the PS3 are $300 (At least new/retail versions) the PS3 is clearly the better value for the hardware, even though the 360 elite is having a price drop.

I mean, for the same price, the PS3 has the same hard drive size with the addition of a wireless network adaptor and a bluray player (Though you don't get a headset.)

However, the 360 clearly has more critically acclaimed titles as well as lower rated niche titles like Lost Odyssey.

I think the PS3 is the better deal if you happen to like the games that are in its smaller library, but I think the 360 is still more appealing to a larger audience thanks to its sheer quantity.

What do you think?

PS3 = 2008-2009 games

You choose.

you can't go wrong with either, both offer more than enough games to warrant a purchase. if someone came into my house now and took either my ps3 or 360 i would get along fine with either one they left.

Not sure why people are still pushing the idea that the 360 has the better library when it has so few exclusives to its name.

I think the PS3 is the better value because of the hardware, and the games, thats my opinion tho. But honestly, its neck and neck for me.

I think the PS3, at this point, has better value, hardware and games. That is my opinion. I think the 360 having the best library was beyond question a year ago,but I think at this point the PS3 has enough out that it isdebatable who has the better library. As a longtime PS3 fan, I'm finally happy with the library that is available/in the pipeline and have more games than time to actually play.

Lack of a sim racer and JRPGs made me very upset over PS3's library.

I paid $30 for GT5p, which literary, was a demo. I desperately wanted a sim racer and I had no choice. I've had my PS3 for 3 years now, at least 360 owners have Forza 2, what the heck is taking PD so long.

If I were to score it, I'd say the 360 has a 7 in every category where the PS3 has a high number in some and a low number is others.

I'd say the 360 has the better overall library.

I got a 360 first then i got a PS3, and i had to force myself because im an MGS fan. While i love the system, i would be perfectly happy with a 360, and vice versa if i got PS3 first.

Not sure what "SS" means, but I imagine it's going to be some kind of list that shows all the PC games attached to the 360 as well as a slew of obscure games that no one would actually attribute to a GOOD library.

PS3 is the best value and has the best games. 360 hasn't even had one notable exclusive this year and the year is 3/4 of the way over.

SS is a spreadsheet, and yes it is a list showing many games PS3 doesnt have that are great. Believe what you want. But you probably only count AAAe and AAAAe's right? Right.

My preference until just recently was JRPGs. I wasn't aware that the PC got many of those. I do play some on the PC and some of my favorites were on it (Diablo 2, NWN, Planescape: Torment). I'm just now becoming more of a WRPG fan than a JRPG fan. And also, in the confines of this thread they don't give a PC option. . .soooo.

Pfft, MS can keep it. Unless ME2 drastically improves on its gunplay and RPG elements, i wont regret it not coming to PS3. And if it does improve, PC it is! On the hand, Im glad Dear Rising 2 is becoming a multiplat.

Aye, there are a handful of games on the PS3. But if I had bought a PS3, I'd have missed out on Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Mass Effect (I don't have a gaming rig) Infinite Undiscovery, The Last Remnant, not gotten Tales of Vesperia a year early or Eternal Sonata. So while yes, I might be missing out on VC and DS, I just couldn't choose PS3 over 360 on the RPG front.

That spreadsheet really points out how bad the 360 library is. Most of the good games are really old now, a significant number of these "exclusives" 360 owners like to count are because MS chose to launch a defective console on you guys a year early. You can't even buy a lot of those games anymore. Yeah a lot of oldies on that list for 360. Compare the last two years and see how 360 stacks up. 2009 Exclusives - 360 = Nothing 360=PAST Games PS3=Current and Future games

That's only because in SW's the current gen Cows are trying to spread this propaganda that the term console exclusive does not exist. Even though last gen was used the term ALL THE TIME without any issue. I also wasn't aware that my console only played games from the last 2 years. When directly comparing the 360's game library to the PS3's game library, the 360 without a doubt beats it. None of this PC/360 multiplat junk. Just straight up look at the 360's library vs. the PS3's library. There is no comparison. We've already went through this once this week with over 700 posts. Go dig up that thread if you like.

overall, the xbox 360 has more games cuz its been out one year longer, but the ps3 has better games based on reviews on average so there. THEN AGAIN, the xbox 360 hasnt released any exclusives this year so far so i dont see how u can defend it much longer i mean only releaseing in the last quarter of the year is pretty pathetic

Poor effort! Yeah, the 360 is better for RPGs than PS3...for now! But the games you listed aren't the best at all. LO, yes, BD and ME, no, IU is ok, LR is good, TV is good, ES was too short, rental only! Get a gaming rig. $500 is all you need. Remember, dont overdo it on the CPU, always aim for a good GPU.

You can argue all day over which console has the biggest/best library, but at the end of the day, the PC has millions more games than the consoles. And why do so many 360 users think that "Exclusive" means "not on PS3" rather than "Only on 360"? Seriously, name 3 great 360 exclusives.

I honestly think the PS3 is the best system to own right now. I am not some rabbid 13 year old fanboy. I am a 26 year old college educated Technology Education teacher. I used to own a 360 but of course I was having the RROD issue and to top it off I received poor customer service, I got frustrated to the point that I sold my 360 and all of my 360 games and moved on to a PS3 and I am extremely happy with that decision.

  1. The PS3 hardware is much more reliable then the 360 hardware.
  2. As far as games are concerned, this isn't 2006 anymore. The PS3's exclusives easily go toe to toe with the 360's exclusives and in the grand scope of things most of the big 3rd party games are multiplats anyways so both systems get them.
  3. The hard-drive in the PS3 is upgradeable, I put a 500GB hard-drive in mine for $90 dollars.
  4. The PS3 plays blu-ray, good blu-ray's put HD cable channels to shame by how freaking clear they are.
  5. PSN is free. You can play online, send messages, chat, see what your friends are playing and compare trophies. It does everything you need it to do and you don't have to pay a dime for it.
  6. Wi-fi is built in. No need for a dongle or anything.
  7. The PS3 controller has a built in rechargable battery that charges via USB. No need for batteries or bulky battery packs.
  8. Sony's DRM restrictions are way better then Microsoft's. Sony lets you download your games on up to 5 systems. A lot of people take advantage of this to do game-sharing but I like it because I can get a back-up system when they get even cheaper (like $199) and have all of my games on two systems in different rooms of the house. Also, Microsoft has that restriction that enforces you to be connected to the net if you try and play a game that was not purchased on that System. Sony doesn't have that restriction. You can be online or offline, it doesn't matter.

The 360 was the better system for awhile but nowadays I think the PS3 is clearly the better buy.

[QUOTE="mythrol"][QUOTE="tirralirra"] Well, I'd say you're really missing out on Valkria Chronicles. If you know someone who has a PS3, make them buy it so YOU can play it.tirralirra

I didn't realize my opinion was poor effort. You told me I should play VC, I gave you the reason why I chose 360 over PS3. I thought it was pretty solid reasoning. For you to say that ME is not good. HA. That's poor effort on your part. Exactly what would I do with a gaming rig when my favorite genre is JRPG/RPG? Play emulators?

Game Spot Scores - Linkified

You'll notice the 360 has more AAAe, AAe, Ae games. As well as the overall AA and A games (tied on the number of overall AAA).

mythrol

Er...there is one thing. Subjectivity always prevails when it comes to games.

The Xbox 360 because of it's value and online services. I don't care about value because a gaming console is mainly used to play games, so don't care about ps3's price value.

*before anyone says blu-ray to this, that's okay cause I have a blu-ray player.

Not here. This is GameSpot's Forums. Here GS's scores reign supreme (I find this incredibly stupid). That's the only real rule to SW. So the only subjectivity we need is what GS thinks. Their score is all that matters. And you can easily look at their scores when comparing the 360 to the PS3 library vs. library, and see that the 360 wins it according to GS. Which is all that matters here.

SS is a spreadsheet, and yes it is a list showing many games PS3 doesnt have that are great. Believe what you want. But you probably only count AAAe and AAAAe's right? Right.h575309
If we're referring to libraries, there's has to be some degree of desirability. 360 could have thousands of games, but that doesn't mean they have any quality to them. You have a big library. That's great! Now if only you could produce a GOOD library with games that are actually exclusive instead of shared with the PC.

On the contrary, scores are exactly what I'm referring to since they attribute to the game library's quality. According to the logic of the people who post that spreadsheet, the 360 would win with regards to library with only A games as long as their total sum eclipses whatever Sony has to offer whether it be AAAA, AAA, or AA. Also, the fact that 360 shares most of its scores with PC is not opinion.
