remember bu bu rsx is a shader monster LOL.

The xbox360 version doesnt have the level of detail patch downloaded and enabled, so it's basically letting ps3 cheat by having it enabled because of the 1 year extra dev time lod patch came shipped on ps3 oblivion.

there's no way rsx was stripped of dx9 support.

when installing, doom3 on your pc it requires you to download direct x 9, why? because it's used in doom3 for the heat haze effects.

damage control how? on xbox360 they had to make game limited budget, from scratch on ps3...they had money from oblivion being success on 360/pc so they had enough money it only usually takes 6 months to port games, so they basically had 6 months to totally make oblivion a better game, why? because it was already complete, the games already complete on pc/360 they had to actually make the game ground up on 360/pc, on ps3 they were just sitting there thinking of ways to improve, i sure hope oblivion on ps3 is thousand times better, it had a freaking year of porting time, that's way longer over due, and still textures and anti aliasing is downgraded from 360 and shaders and shadows.

it doesnt change the fact that most every website that reviewed oblivion thinks that the ps3 version has better graphics, framerates, and better load times. then you come along and try to spin it the other way around when there have been profesional opinions that contradict everything you say.

yes, ps3 version might be better, but it also had a extra year of development time to improve everything because the game was already complete all they did was convert code to ps3 cell+rsx sony dev tools open gl es, then freaking sit there and think of ways to improve.

nobody can claim ownage owner xbox360 because they did not come out at the same time frame.

only multiplatform games with about same amount of dev time can only be compared.

the ps3 loads times are better because 4gb of data is installed onto ps3 harddrive, while xbox360 doesnt, streams from dvd.

And actually only a few textures look better on ps3, ive seen reports from lots of people who own ps3/xbox and both versions of oblivion they all said xbox360 overall like 80% of the textures look better on 360 and only like 20% of textures look better on ps3,.like character models.

Year old game should be better, since textures have been further optimized. Look at all the screen stutters especially when hes crossing the bridge. It is true then that it has framerate issues, it can't handle it. Oblivion owns the PS3.

I noticed the same thing with Armored Core 4, heat shimmers were in the 360 version but not in the PS3 version. PS3 should be able to do them, and probably already does in a game. Fire in Genji 2 has the heat shimmer effect doesn't it? (never played it, just saw a screen a while ago that seemed to show it)

Frame rates suck, Greg Mueller himself said so, watch his review, and also read it. Here is a little tidbit from his review. Just about every publication said the same thing.

The PlayStation 3 version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is every bit as impressive as the Xbox 360 and PC versions. However, this isn't necessarily the best version of the game. LINK

Multiplatform users who have been holding out in hopes of getting the "best looking version" should still gravitate towards a pumped-up PC. But, as I mentioned earlier, the PS3 version of Oblivion is a definite technical improvement over the 360 edition. Even if you have the latest Xbox patch installed, this newest port holds an advantage with its quicker loading times (which are almost twice as fast as the 360's), fewer framerate hitches, sharper textures, a better draw distance, and a brighter overall picture. Audibly, you're getting the same game -- which, for those of you who are new to the game, is stacked with an excellent ambient soundtrack and strong voice acting.

not all textures in ps3 oblivion look better, plus the videos on gametrailers show even unpatched xbox360 version, has less framerate slowdowns, plus ps3 version lacks anti aliasing.

GsSanAndreas

because, the xbox360 version isnt patched man.

gametrailers is comparing unpatched out of box, 360 oblivion, to ps3 version with lod patch and some enhancements.

MOST TEXTURES ON 360 LOOK BETTER, ONLY A FEW LOOK BETTER ON PS3

Texture quality :
The textures are generally higher resolution on the 360. I'd say 80% of the textures are twice as good on the 360. The few textures that are better on the PS3 are the character textures and some objects, such as the little table in your cell at the beginning of the game.

o god wat a load of BSlennon07

Well, I got my PS3 copy of Oblivion today, and I decided to do a direct comparison, running both at the same time on one TV (had to switch back and forth in the inputs).

Here's the results in different categories :

Vsync / control :
I notice no tearing in either version, however, there is more input lag on the PS3 version. The lag feels about 75% worse (it's totally subjective however).

'Jaggies' :
PS3 has worse jaggies, but not by much. The PS3 version seems to have no AA, while the 360 version looks like 2xAA on a PC.

Bloom / HDR effects :
Best way to describe it is, 360 version seems to have more light bloom, with higher intensity of the colors. PS3 version has a more dynamic HDR effect, looking at a bright surface makes your 'eyes' adjust more than the 360 version.

Texture quality :
The textures are generally higher resolution on the 360. I'd say 80% of the textures are twice as good on the 360. The few textures that are better on the PS3 are the character textures and some objects, such as the little table in your cell at the beginning of the game.

Texture Filtering :
PS3 has an enormous edge here, looks more like 16xAF on a PC, more like no AF on the 360. This makes textures in the distance more clear.

Load times :
PS3 version is superior here. PS3 load times are about 40% faster. A 10 second load time on 360 is about 6 on PS3. A 40 second load time is about 25 on PS3. Stuff like that.

Lighting (not HDR) :
Lighting seems slightly better on the 360. One specific example is in the starting dungeon. The torch on the wall in your cell has a better effect on the 360. It waves around more, the PS3 version just pulses.

Framerate :
360 is the winner here. PS3 is all around slower 90% of the time. Sometimes it's just a few FPS, sometimes it's up to ~10fps, I'd say. The slowdowns on the 360 are worse on the PS3.

Sound :
PS3 version sounded more muffled, perhaps they compressed the audio. It's possible I'm wrong because the 360 itself is louder than the PS3 by far, so it was easier to hear the PS3 audio. Still, I'd say the PS3 audio sounds downsampled. Note, this doesn't count the music or voice, just the sound effects seem muffled.

LOD :
PS3 has no better LOD than the 360 version. There is no choppyness when moving around outside like on the 360, but it isn't pushed out any. Also, like many suspected, the 'LOD shader fix' is not much more than the little texture LOD fixes that users made for the PC version.

Both versions look VERY similar, but I would give a slight edge to the 360 version, simply for the better textures (for the most part). Load time differences wouldn't be noticeable if I weren't running both at the same time. The PS3 is nice and quiet, so you can pick up more sound details, but the sound itself sounds a bit muffled on the PS3.

Anyways, that's all I can think of for now.

MOST TEXTURES ON 360 LOOK BETTER, ONLY A FEW LOOK BETTER ON PS3

Texture quality :
The textures are generally higher resolution on the 360. I'd say 80% of the textures are twice as good on the 360. The few textures that are better on the PS3 are the character textures and some objects, such as the little table in your cell at the beginning of the game.

his review was way more detailed and better written than ignps3's plus he gave ps3 version advantages and xbox360, so hows it biased, i think if it was biased he would say xbox360 wins in everything.

what do you have against IGN they are a very trustworthy site that reviews alot of games and are usually the first site to report news.

look the gate, the ps3 they almost totally took out the direct x9 heat shimmer ps3 couldnt handle it lmfao!

remember bu bu rsx is a shader monster LOL.

The xbox360 version doesnt have the level of detail patch downloaded and enabled, so it's basically letting ps3 cheat by having it enabled because of the 1 year extra dev time lod patch came shipped on ps3 oblivion.

looks like the 360 darkens its graphics again to hide the poor textures cuz it can't handle waht hte ps3 can handleddldave
and when looking at the horseback comparision 360 wins all the way in terms of graphics, the collors are more vibrant on 360, better contrast ratio, ps3 looks more washed out

yoddahasbadodda

Direct x9 heat shimmer?

I suggest you watch this video using exclusive power of the PS3 shaders by itself (heat shimmer included)

this http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=16987&type=mov&pl=game >>>> whatever heat shimmer crap you were talking about for a multiplatform PC game using direct x9.

Sorry no

ONLY REAL REVIEW

MORE DETAILED THAN IGN AND GAMESPOT LESS BIASED
