PS3, could it beat Wii in 2008?

As we all know, the Wii came in 1st place last year, leaving the PS3 in 3rd. But, in 2008, it seams that the tabels will turn. The PS3 is coming back with a vengeance.

The 2008 PS3 line-up: Final fantasy XIII, Killzone 2, Eight days, White knight story, Devil may cry 4, Medal gear solid 4, Littelbigplanet, Home, God of war III, Resistance: fall of man 2, Haze, Lost planet extreme condition.

The 2008 Wii line-up: Super smash bros. brawl, Wii fit, No more heros, Sonic riders: zero gravity, Endless ocean.

as you can see, the wii line-up is not good. I guess Nintendo is getting too cocky with all the sales the Wii is getting. So is this it? is Nintendo gonna loose to Sony?

Wow, all those games listed, and yet the game that seems to move a lot of Wii units, Wii Sports, already comes packaged with the Wii.

So, like, unless Sony is going to start packaging Wii Sports with the PS3, I find it unlikely a handful of other games will tip the tide.

Did I miss the God of War III announcement, or are you just making this happy wish list? From what I could remember, DMC4 was not an exclusive, so that will not give a push to buy more PS3. Resistance was good, I have to admit it, but good enough to make a sequel hyped by players? Not likely, and do not BS yourself. Your argument is not convincing.

Won't even be close. The Wii is still in high demand in many places worldwide. As long as the demand for the Wii is as high as it is, and Nintendo can meet the consumer demand, PS3 will be lucky to sell a 1/3 of what the Wii does. Real talk.

wii's are still sold out in 95% of places. The demand every month keeps rising. And Nintendo has made several changes now to how many wii systems they make per month. Increasinly it over the last year or so.

No, as with all fanboys, and anti fanboys. Sony will not beat nintendo this gen. Even if this so called "MGS" That so far ALL WE KNOW about it is it's going be pretty. no one knows if the gameplay will hold up to it. the replayability etc. Many factor.s

All i hear from the PS3 fanboys are MGS this MGS that. blah blah. It's a snooze fest. It's an ok action spy game whatever it is. I played the original, it was like a 7/10 for me.

95% of the people here that own a 360/ps3 hype a game right away when the previews show it's really pretty. What a shame.

By the way, i like how you added titles from the PS3 lineup that will be coming all through the year. Compared to a handful of Wii titles coming the 1st quarter. Geeze what a cow.

There are many game, many, more games than what you have listed. And we're still in JANUARY, more titles will be announced for this year.

Not a snowballs chance! In will outsell the 360 but not the Wii. It doesn't matter how many games either system gets nobody is beating the Wii in sales. Why you ask? The answer is simple, the Wii never sold well based on number of games, in fact that is NOT even the reason it sold at all. The Wii sells to non and casual gamers based on a new way to play the game, it sells based on gameplay and not number of games. I'd bet the Wii would kill both the 360 and PS3 off the back of Wii sports alone. Not fanboyism just plain fact, that is why it sells. So no, here is how it may look for 2008.

Lost planet ? that game was WAYYYYY too short. I beat it in a day... and DMC 4 is a multiplat so it won't only move PS3's... besides. anyone that wanted to play lost planet. probly already have it for PC and/ or 360.

The games I highlighted are all the crap games which will barely sell at all. Also some of those games are not exclusive to the PS3.

PS3 fails, PS3 has already failed in 2006 and 2007. There are no good games coming out in 2008 for the PS3 apart from MGS4, Haze, Resistance 2, God of War and MAYBE Final Fantasy XIII.

Even so, those games are not going to sell consoles. None of those games are as big as Halo 3 or Gears of War.

You're comparing PS3's entire (hits) 08 lineup to Wii's Q1-2 lineup of the slowest months of the year... not exactly fair.

In sales, it's no question that Wii is going to continue to wipe the floor with PS3, not a single game in that lineup is going to get many people (average consumer) to buy a PS3 over a Wii or 360
