The current Jasper chipset has both a 65 nm CPU and GPU.

This falls Valhalla chipset is ONE 65nm chip that has both the CPU and GPU. The cost savings will be immense.

You seriously think a PS3 09 price drop will go unoticed? If need be and backed against a wall like in 08.......MS can and will afford another price drop to have another wonderful holiday 08 repeat.

I do not see a cut happening for either one. Microsoft has no need right now and Sony just can not afford to do one right now. When they are posting a loss for only the second time since Sony went on the market then they are not about to take larger losses.rybe1025

People need to stop taking Pachter's word as fact. He is often off on his predictions.

Personally, I don't see Sony knocking $100 off the PS3 when they are posting a LOSS for the first time 14yrs. My guess is that Sony knocks $50 off the PS3's price and bundles a game or two.

I also expect MS to be stubborn and not respond immediately, but eventually respond with their own $50 price cut.

Yes but a lot of people will look at a $300 PS3 as a better value than a $250 or even a $200 360. I think the $400 price is just to much for some people to spend even for something they think is worth it. I think $300 is really the price that should increase PS3 sales drastically, will it outsell the 360 with a price drop? Maybe, but I dont think it is going to matter much to MS, the 360 will always do well.nikolai37

Any chance your univeristy is York? Anyways, I'm going off to University this Sept, wouldn't mind picking up a 360 if it's going to become more reliable and cost less.

good chance it might still drop their prices to stay even more competitive. Maybe they can take a few losses. I'm not sure Sony can though

Another point is MS is not taking a loss on their consoles like Sony is. So if either of the two companies was in a position for a price drop it would be MS and not Sony. To further add to this console companies make the most money off of software where MS is in first place and Sony is in last. I just can not see Sony cutting the price. Sony the company as a whole is in bad shape and worse then the other two consoles. They are posting a huge loss. So like I said before MS does not need to price cut but they are in a position to do so but Sony wants to but they can not.rybe1025
