I have a huge dilemma. My parents just said I could get either a PS3 or an Xbox 360 (with my own money) and I have many reasons to want both, but I can't afford both.

For the PS3, I would get Demon's Souls and Uncharted 2 - two of the games I most want, as well as LBP, Trine, and Fat Princess. I'm looking forward to ModNation Racers, GranT5, 3DDotGH, Socom4, and The Last Guardian for this system.

For the 360, I would get Forza 3, MW2, and ODST. I'm looking forward to Halo Reach, Monaco, and Trine for this system.

Personally, I like the exclusives (primarily U2 and DS) and reliability of the PS3 better, but I like the controller of the 360 better and I especially like Xbox Live. Most of my friends at my new high school play on Xbox Live for large amounts of time and they are constantly talking about it. I really want to join in with them, but I can get both setups for the same amount of money and I'm not sure if I want to miss out on Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2, and the other exclusives (though Xbox has Monaco which I really look forward to playing locally with my friends at least on my crappy PC and the Xbox has some nice exclusives (but not as nice as PS3, IMO)).

My main questions are: 1) Which system would you recommend I get?

and 2) Is playing Xbox Live (MW2 and later Halo Reach) with my friends worth missing out on the PS3 exclusives like U2, DS, TLG, and GT5?

Thank you System Warriors! :D

i would say PS3 because of Valkyria Chronicles, but if you want a driving sim, Forza can be replaced with GT5 (when it comes out), MW2, i believe, have nice community of its own on PS3, ODST.... some may say KZ2 can replace it, but im not entirely sure.

I'd also like to point out that I am getting Monster Hunter Tri for the Wii, so if that is worthy as a substitute for Demon's Souls (they seem similar), then my favor could be swayed more towards the Xbox.

they are in a way similar, as in if you get hooked, you will spends hours and hours, but other than that, the mission structure is quite different one thing is tho, if youd ont have friends on MH3, your experience will not be as fun, while Demon's Souls is still great game without multiplayer (hard tho. very hard)

What in the world? You need to do some SERIOUS research on games before asking us, you appear to have very little knowledge of the games.

I enjoy both (I play TF2 and BF2 and many local mulitplayer games on the Wii), but also have spent a long time games like Super Mario Galaxy and the Monkey Island series. I probably find playing with my friends a little more enjoyable, and the PS3 can do that with games like LBP (but it can't do the whole play online with my friends thing), while the Xbox can do the local multiplayer aspect with games like Monaco as well as Xbox Live, but I am just debating whether Demon's Souls and Uncharted 2 are worth missing out on all the experiences my friends are having (experiences that they have long conversations about which I can't join because I wasn't part of them) and vice-versa.

well it won't make a difference when you play Uncharted 2's campaign, it'll remain the same if you play it today or in 100 years

as for Demon's Souls, there's some pretty cool passive multiplayer aspects of the game, i'm a pretty big fan of the game myself, but i also gotta admit that sometimes i go offline when i don't feel like being invaded and the game is still great, so it's not like the majority of the quality of the game would go down if you waited too long to play it

and of course, they're making sequels to both games

What in the world? You need to do some SERIOUS research on games before asking us, you appear to have very little knowledge of the games.

I have read a lot about each game and have watched many videos about each as well as played the demo for Monster Hunter Tri. From what I have seen/read/played, Monster Hunter Tri is all about increasing your personal skill at playing the game rather than increasing your character's level. Seeing as Demon's Souls is all about the difficulty, using some of the many sources I have read about it I have come to the conclusion that Demon's Souls also requires a lot of increase in your personal skill. Demon's Souls' main draw (as I have read) is the difficulty which makes you constantly need to adapt and get better. The same has been said about Monster Hunter Tri. In both games, you are trying to get that sense of accomplishment from defeating the big Tower Knight or the giant Rathian(?) dragon. Not only do these games have the difficulty aspect in common, but they also share a combat system that, to me, looks somewhat similar (please tell me if I'm mistaken). IMO, these games seem to have very similar styles and have many similar reasons why you would want to play them.

But hey, you seem to be the expert and it was people like you that I was hoping would answer my question so.... thanks?

one underrated aspect that nobody ever talks about Demon's Souls in regards to difficulty is how unforgiving the game is... if there's a ledge, there's no invisible wall and you fall to your death (naturally as you play the game, the level design puts in more and more ledges with smaller walkways and enemies to fight along the way)... many times i've died because they purposefully put a hole in the floor that i couldn't see in time because i was running (i mean, the area was no different from the area right next to it...), it's one of those trial and error games where every step you take is rife with more traps and new unexpected ways enemies kill you (once you get into the flow and have a strong enough character tho, some levels start to go by a little more quickly)

dunno about Monster Hunter Tri tho, never played the series

If you want a good online community for your gaming needs, with games that are great and not on the PS3 (but are on the PC) then get a 360, if you want 2 or 3 exclusives, but inferior multiplatform games, get a PS3.

most Multiplats aren't bad on the PS3. 360 Multiplats are only better because of the graphics and really it doesn't matter.

Well im a PS3 guy but I admit XBL is pretty good. Since your starting a new HS you may want to try to connect as best you can with any new friends you get so I say Xbox 360. If you dont care to keep connected then get a PS3, its definitely a better system, it just lacks in online play.

1) I suggest getting a 360 first, save up money again and get a PS3 (or use birthdays, christmas or whenever you get money if you don't work) 2) For me, easily yes.
