Come on guys, Disgaea is a solid AA franchise and the latest installment is set to release in the US on the 26th! Why is no one hyping this awesome SRPG?!
I am excited for it but it isn't going to be something amazing. Like some other people said it is kind of a niche title that the mass audience knows very little about.

Yeah but the same bland grey shooters look amazing right :roll: too much emphasis is placed on graphics in this forum, almost to the point where it is sickening. I hope none of you guys ever played an SNES, it might make your eyes explode...

I have to agree but that's only because I like Skies of Arcadia so much. Although I am not sure if I like the shooter approach they took with the game. I don't know anything about Disaea and from the screen shots it doesn't look interesting.

Brothers in Arms. It's a WW2 shooter, in retrospect it's a bad comparison.
I'd be excited if I had played the first two. And while I've wanted to, I don't see it ever happening now unless I end up finishing a lot of my games that I have/will have and there's a drought.

are all coming out in august...so it is hard to get hyped when there are other interesting games coming out as well.

Nah dude. Just we all have different tastes. I personally want to play all of them. but I will only buy maybe 2 or 3 of them.
I am just saying for multi system owners, it is a packed month....there are just going to be games that won't get the hype or the sales. That was my point. that there are too many good games this month.
Its a niche game. thats why its not hyped. Im getting it though. Loved the other 3 and expecting the same from this one. But, the RPG Im waiting the most this year is Persona 4 :D
It's got some decent gameplay, a pretty nice story, though they should bring back Laharel. But that is all that is going for it, the music is ok but no where near what it could of been.
The graphics are just inexcusable, it's like they were made for the SNES, I mean common, for the PS2 fine, but the PS3 .. no that is just Wrong.
RPGs don't sell as well as you'd think (1 million or more) unless...
* They were made by Square
* They were made by Enix
* They are made by Square-Enix
* They have "Pokemon" in the title.
* They are a WRPG
And this is regardless of quality. Disgaea doesn't fit into any of those categories. Not to mention that most PS3/360 gamers are wowed by graphics and nothing else... and this game looks like a 2002-era PS2 game.
I haven't ever played a disgaea game. I'm sure I'd love it, but honestly, I just don't find it worth my money/time to go and study up on the games, just to play a game for the PS3 that could have easily been done on the PS2.
Y'know? Unless its like... $5-10. lol. I'm sure it will do well enough to cover it's cost of manufacturing though.

On a sidenote, I loved the frist two Disgaea's and I will probably pick this on up down the line. I won't rush to buy it.
I don't think graphics really matter in a Disgaea title, I've always played them for the replayablity and gameplay. I'll leave the outstanding graphics to Final Fantasy XIII, White Knight Chronicles, and such.
It is because it doesn't have great graphics, and we all know graphics only matter when it comes to SRPGs, I love the Disgaea games, right now I am playing Spectral Force 3 and that is a pretty good SRPG

It's a strategy RPG. You play as Mao who attends Evil Academy. His father is the chairman of the school and Mao plots to overthrow him.
