I seem to recall an article, on one of the many sites quoted here, that said the ps3 needed the cell to leverage the power of the nvidia gpu but it was not the case for the 360. Almost as if ms under estimated the power of their cpu because the ati gpu was better. So on one console you have a better cpu than the other and the opposite when it comes to gpu. If Sony had ATI then the ps3 would have the advantage across the board. As it stands now, the ps3 needs the cell to help out the nvidia gpu. Similar argument was made about the use of blueray in that the blueray would not have to compress textures making them easier for the cell and rsx to process them. The problem in that respect is the limited 256mb of memory for each. So streaming uncompressed textures would be faster to load but take up more disc space. The 360 with the shared memory can switch on the fly if it needs more memory for textures for the gpu or more memory for other game data for the cpu.

The Gpu was supposed to be build as a part of the cell. What happened was sony had trouble with engineering it. They contacted Nvidia to enginner a chip to be the stand in GPU. There is no special bus to the GPU to make it work excedently faster with the CELL. The only thing the cell is good for is moving raw data. That means that AI can truley be improved with the CPU and calculations can be faster and more precise.

WE all (or at least other PC gamers know) the GPU is a big bottleneck of proformance. The lackuster gpu in the PS3 as compared to the RsX reallly hurts the Ps3. There is probaley away to help take some weight off the gpu through the cpu but that doesn't help very much.

The only thing is ps3 has no Gears of War to show if it can do something like that. I believe that a good comparison of graphics could be checked on VF5 when it is released on 360. I believe that there will not be a difference between the two.

Could you please provide links? Until we have some linked articles with the devs going on record, we have to assume that these are rumors or ficticious.

No need for a Gears of War. It has Uncharted, LAIR, Heavenly Sword, FFXIII, MGS4,KZ2, MGS4, Gran Turismo, Ratchet & Clank etc.

Also, try to keep in mind that it a year for the 360 to get Gears of War.

I think you're jumping the gun, _asasn_. None of those games are out yet, and many of those games don't have any gameplay videos avaliable, such as Killzone 2.

Have we seen any videos for Uncharted, FF13, KZ2, GT (5)?, or Ratchet & Clank?

We really have no idea how those games are going to look on the final build. Right now Gears of War is the best looking console game avaliable, period.

Yeah it's great to see someone with no bias tell us in depth technical knowledge of both platforms. Seriously you don't know a damn thing. PS3's gpu is from the same era as 360s and based off what I've read on the architechture it does have significantly more raw power. Although 360's is designed for efficiency, we have no idea what the RSX is capable of until some actual 1st party games come out. It seems like from architechture differences PS3 about equal for visuals from mediocre multiplat devs, and will vastly surpass 360 in exclusives. So far all these stupid multiplat comparisons have been a joke... there's so many different factors in how they developed the games that there's no way to tell anything about the system's power. Fact is the visuals are virtually the same right now and PS3 hasn't even come close to its ceiling.
